Gentle, helpful
This is a good book. It is gentle and does not identify which child of the many pictured is speaking on each page—helping children realize that you can’t look at someone and know that they have been hurt, and that perhaps it is more children than they know. And perhaps they are not so alone. It held my five-year old’s attention.

Great book for kids and parents
Love this book and the parent guide that goes with it. A must for any child dealing with trauma, from bullying to more severe issues. It's easy to understand and very relateable for children. It does a great job normalizing the experience of trauma and discussing how to feel better on your own time.

I like that this book doesn't explain what happened to the ...
I like that this book doesn't explain what happened to the children in it. It leaves the subject open to cater it to your own kids. I found it easy to change a few of the pages to make it more understandable for my 3 year old. The book addresses most, if not all, of the feelings they might be feeling and that they are OK!

Great Addition to My Counseling Toolkit
This is a superb book to share with kids who have been sexually abused or have suffered any type of trauma. It is vague enough to fit in many circumstances but lends itself to healing from serious trauma. Use of the book has yielded positive results with child clients who have suffered serious trauma from sexual/physical abuse. It helps normalize a child's feelings and behaviors and helps them understand more about self care and healing in a way a child can easily understand.

Not helpful for dog bite trauma!
I bought this book for a client who recently went through a traumatic incident where a dog bit her. Unfortunately, the author describes fight or flight using the visual of a dog and shows a very angry dog for the “fight” description. So definitely unable to use this book.:( pretty good other than that.

A little long and geared towards older kids
This book is geared towards the later end of the age range. Lots of words on the pages and goes on for a while about the experiences and affects of trauma before talking about recovery. I think it would be great for a lot of foster parents just no right for our 6 year old.

Great introduction to trauma treatment
I am a counselor at a Children's Advocacy Center and I use this book with older kids to help them understand that their reactions to their traumas are normal and to introduce them to some of the concepts we will work on in therapy.
