24 tracks on 2 CDs from Australia's first supergroup of the 1980s, led by Iva Davies. Features extended 12-inch and club mix versions of hits "Crazy", "Electric Blue", "Hey Little Girl" and "No Promises", plus Bill Laswells rare remix of "Great Southern Land (Byrralku Dhangudha)".

Iva Davies appreciated the process that afforded him the range to create
If like me you were familiar with "Hey Little Girl (US Mix)", "Taking the Town (Ext Dance Mix)", or "Electric Blue (Ext Mix)", this collection is less about serious and more about, filling in the blank spaces of which I was not aware. This reasonably priced collection made it easier to obtain than hunting for the vinyl back then, now more so. After listening, it's obvious there were other hits that never got close to the crowded list of dance floor fillers, then again I believe Iva Davies knew exactly what and how he was issuing his creations, come of them commercially bent while the others shows much originality and departure from the hits, though still able to hold onto the interested, the curious and the fans. Count me in, though honestly, the mixes required outside thought feeding into the efforts, so they get a tip of the hat as well. If you enjoyed ICEHOUSE back in the early 80's you owe it to yourself to hear this collection: beg, borrow, but buy your own to keep. RECOMMENDED and I may need to pop for the Vol. 2

Like going back in time
Songs were what I love and remixes that are different from the original songs. That’s why I bought this album to add to my collection. Very happy to hear and own it. Thanks

got this on a whim
I had a 12" of "No Promises" ,there are 2 version of this on this set a US Club Mix & Extended Mix,which is different than the 12 version I had.. I didn't know Icehouse had more remixes. So I got this on a whim.Sometimes you discover the group better with compilations.. This mist be a repackaged set because when I ripped to my computer they say vol.1 ,vol.2. THe package says vol.1,just sayin' All I can say is I only really know the one song I had the others are good.Package wise. it comes in a slip box cover. You have to slide out the CD set and there is a tri fold of each disc on the end with a booklet in the middle .You need the slip box to keep it all together so as not to open. It is just a bit bigger than a double CD set with the 2 disc flip case.

This is a great release of extended versions of previously recorded material.
The release has quite a collection of their hits, spanning nearly two decades with extended versions of extraordinary tracks etc. There is companion volume with even more dance versions.

Great if you are a fan!
Most Icehouse stuff hasn't been around in the US for several years, and that's too bad as Icehouse was a classic band from the 80's and while Iva Davies is still keeping the Icehouse tag alive, the quality releases have been few and far between. This set focus' on 12 inch mixes of most of the popular singles. The quality is good, and it's always a pleasure to find some Icehouse creeping back to the US. If you are new to Icehouse this is a great set to start with, lots of hits here and you will quickly find out why Iva Davies was a true original in the Aussie music scene!

Never thought this day will come
I have been doing my best to collect Icehouse remixes in any way possible. Thank goodness they have taken the initiative to release them properly. I wish more artist would do the same. I have to admit, the only album I had bought by Icehouse was "Man Of Colours", and I am SO happy that I did - it is one of the best in my collection. A few years ago, they released "Street Cafe" also released as "Meltdown". Terrific!! Now the original mixes?! You gotta be crazy baby - consider them bought by me. And all the happier for it!

Too much?? Nooooooo ......
As I stated in my opinion re: Volume 2 of this remix collection by Davies and Co., one can never have too much of a thing when it comes to Iva Davies and Icehouse.Highly recommended, but only if you include Volume 2 with it so you will then have a truly COMPLETE picture of how Icehouse compositions can be broken down and added upon as well as dissected and thoroughly examined by the remixers.

Sounds good to me!
Some people have slagged this off for being 'dull' sounding and/or sourced from vinyl rips. I don't think it sounds bad at all and so what if they've used vinyl? How are you going to get all these mixes for this price? In the 80s, record companies tended not to keep the masters for what were essentially disposable mixes that were only created to sell singles, and thus stimulating the all important album sales. So it's not surprising that some masters are missing. If they HAVE been located and used on other releases, then buy those! But for the money, this is an excellent compilation that would certainly cost a LOT more if you tracked down the vinyl singles. For instance, the UK 12" of 'Electric Blue' is rarely seen for sale below £20...

A must-have for every Icehouse fan!
It's great to finally have all these tracks on CD, they sound superb. Hey Little Girl 12" was always one of my favourites, but there are loads of good tracks . . Great Southern Land, No Promises etc. I have also bought Volume Two.
