Smells like gin-soaked raisins. Contains DMAE. Feels heavy.
This "superfood moisture" cream is not my favorite. It glides on, but it feels heavy on my skin. This is definitely better suited to nighttime use than daytime. It did keep my skin moisturized overnight. The label says "ingredients may separate at 80â° & above." And mine did have a few drops of oil sitting on top of the cream. Not anything worse than that, but just keep note of where to store it.The scent reminds me of gin-soaked raisins (sharp, slightly herbal), which I used to make to help with a joint problem. This does contain juniper berry oil, so perhaps that's what I'm smelling (gin is made from juniper berries). It also has alcohol as the 3rd ingredient, which accounts for the sharpness. This also contains DMAE, which gave me pause. There's conflicting information about that. Some sources say it's effective, but irritating. Others say it's initially effective, but then damages skin with longer use. Also it's not to be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. I did not have any irritation when I used this, but I would say to do your research, and use this with caution.RESPONSIBLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS: *aloe leaf juice (aloe barbadensis) *shea butter (butyrospermum parkii) *alcohol *jojoba seed oil (simmondsia chinensis) vegetable emulsifier (cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, polysorbate 60) DMAE bitartrate (dimethylaminoethanol bitartrate) *rooibos leaf extract (aspalathus linearis) *green tea leaf extract (camellia sinensis) *white tea leaf extract (camellia sinensis) *cold pressed filtered tamanu oil (calophyllum Inophyllum) *white willow bark extract (salix alba) *rosemary CO2 oil (rosmarinus officinalis) **juniper berry oil (juniperus communis) *cardamom CO2 oil (elettaria cardamomum) *vanilla oil (planifolia) usnea extract (usnea spp.) MSM (dimethyl sulfone) hyaluronic acid, *evening primrose oil (oenothera biennis) rosehip seed oil (rosa canina) vitamin E (tocopherol) sunflower seed oil (helianthus annuus)*Indicates ingredients obtained from organic farming practices.**Indicates wildcrafted ingredients.Made in USA

Weirdly clumpy when it arrived but it goes in very smoothly
The media could not be loaded. Â When I first received this, I was not at all impressed. This arrived wrapped in tissue paper in a small cardboard box. The packing was kinda cute, but not something I would expect at this price point. My cream had also leaked a bit, so the sides of the jar neck had some clumps. I seriously thought, who packaged this...this cannot be $50?!Once opened, the cream was so weirdly lumpy. I was so disappointed, I just left it aside for a few weeks. I was afraid to even touch it. I now see on the jar that it states: "Ingredients may separate at 80 degrees & above".I ended up mixing the cream (as you can see in the video) to try to smooth it out. That helped a lot. I should have done that to begin with, but I've never had to do that with creams (and I'm used to spending $80-100 on single skincare products). The smell is a nice scent, and I can smell the shea butter. It goes on very smoothly. I used it on my neck and while it feels good, it hasn't quite fully absorbed. But that's what I'm used to with body butters. They kind of linger for a bit. I'm using this at nighttime, so it's ok for me.Overall, it feels like a nice cream and the ingredients look fairly "clean", which is what I'm looking for in skincare.

Wanted to Love ThisâŚBut Didn't
Washington aesthetician Trisha Watson's eponymous line advertises a "seed to bottle" approach to skincare, emphasizing organic, plant-based ingredients. all products are paraben, phthalate, gluten, and cruelty-free, and the amber glass bottles are made to be easily recyclable. The Trisha Watson website calls Planted her "medium-weight" moisturizer, though I'd consider it on the heavier, richer side for my mature, combination skinâdefinitely something I could only use in winter. No matter when you use it, please also don't forget sunscreen, as it's the most important anti-aging step you can take.Super gentle, this uses Shea and Jojoba along with "anti-oxidant rich herbs," including green tea extract and aloe, to deliver deep moisture and skin-soothing. The ingredient list here is impressively natural but does include DMAE bitartrate, which surprised me as while it's generally considered safe in skincare there are some potential side effects with ingestion that give real pause, like increase blood pressure, confusion and stomach upset. People with certain disorders, like epilepsy, shouldn't use DMAE at all, and it's also been known to cause skin irritation soâŚYes, odd choice in a natural product.See the full ingredient list below from the Trisha Watson website (asterisks indicate organic and wild-farmed ingredients)Ingredients: *aloe, *shea butter, *whole grain alcohol, *jojoba seed oil, vegetable emulsifier, DMAE bitartrate, *rooibos leaf extract, *green tea leaf extract, *white tea leaf extract, *cold pressed filtered tamanu oil, *rosemary CO2. **wildcrafted juniper berry, *tea tree, *cardamom CO2, *vanilla CO2, *white willow bark, usnea extract, MSM, hyaluronic acid, *evening primrose oil, rosehip seed oil, vitamin E, sunflower seed oilI really wanted to love thisâŚBut didn't. Even using the "pea-sized" amount advised, this still just didn't absorb very well and felt like it was just sitting heavily on my skin, even hours later. Just left my skin feeling unclean. It also comes unsealed, in a plain brown box (also unsealed). Each bottle is dated on the bottom, with when it was made ("born") and when it should be used by. And, because this is so natural, separation of ingredients can and often does occur, particularly at high temps (like during summer shipping). Stirring will reconstitute it, but be careful on first opening, as the oil ingredients have most likely separated and will spill out. It also has a medicinal, natural herbal smell that I didn't like at all.Just a fail all the way around for me.
