This style of medicine ball is not made to withstand the force of vertical slamming over time. The stitching will bust open and the tiny beads will spill out everywhere. Not right away but in a year. Slam balls have a tough rubber exterior to withstand the force and are filled with sand so they hit the ground with a thud and stay down forcing you into a full squat to pick it up and recreate the momentum to bring it up overhead to slam again. It is much more difficult than slamming a medicine ball because the pop back up and all you have to do is catch it mid air. It is not the intended use for this type of weighted ball but thanks to unqualified social influencers all sorts of fitness equipment is improperly used.
