Great game
EA sports always puts out quality products in the gaming community, NHL17 is just another great product from EA Sports. The graphics and game play are amazing and it looks so realistic, pleanty of game play modes from online, GM mode, superstar mode and others. I love that Amazon allows you to pre order games and will have them delivered on the date of release which allows you to avoid having to go to your local store and wait in line and your local store might not even have it in stock at the time but Amazon does!

NHL 16.2
Even though I'm giving this 2 stars, this actually isn't a bad game....the problem is it just isn't a good enough improvement over NHL 16 to stand on it's own feet. There's really only 1 new feature, which is the Draft Champions mode. The problem with this feature is that it's half baked. It's actually really fun to draft your team and play with them, but beyond doing it once or twice, there is no real replay value. It ties in with HUT, but minimally rewards you for winning games in the form of a HUT collectible that can be traded in. Problem is, it takes dozens of wins to get any negligible reward. All of the other game modes feature much needed improvements. EASHL enhancements are nice and make it easier to play with your friends, and even though I don't play Franchise Mode, I know they made a ton of improvements there. But these are just upgrades, nothing revolutionary. The gameplay itself is pretty much exactly the same as it was before, just with a new tuner set (which is going to be changed at least 40 times in the next few months as it always is when a new NHL title comes out).If you didn't get NHL 16, then buy this by all means, but if you already have NHL 16, I just can't justify the price tag for a glorified upgrade. I played all 10 hours of my EA Access demo and then promptly returned my unopened copy of this game. I really don't feel like I'm missing out on anything just continuing to play last years offering.

Very fast paced game.
One of my kids favorite games. Boys seem to play this game constantly and really enjoy it. Boys love hockey and really enjoy this game. If I had to buy a game for a sports lover, I'd buy this or the basketball which they like also. We have several years of hockey games. Every year they want the newest version and none of them play the sport.

Another great hockey game from EA Sports
I am a hockey fan, and as such, I get excited at the prospect of new EA NHL releases. As compared to last year's game, not a whole lot has changed. It's presentation is nearly identical, which is not a bad thing, seeing as it was great in last year's game. The graphics and physics are still very good, and even the player models are accurate and it is great to see my favorite players accurately represented. The gameplay is still very smooth and the skill stick is better than ever. I also appreciate the addition of a new difficulty setting: semi-pro. For many people, the lapse between rookie and pro settings was viewed as too steep. This new setting seems to solve that issue well. The World Cup of Hockey mode is interesting and pretty well executed. Be A Pro mode is largely the same as well, retaining its depth and customization from last year's game. Overall, for any hockey fan or for an interested newcomer, NHL 17 is a great game to pick up and play!

Its a great game. I hadn't bought a hockey game in ...
Its a great game. I hadn't bought a hockey game in some while and i'm glad that I decided to pick this one up. I find it very fun to play everytime I turn the Xbox on. Great to play pick up games with my buddies when they come over, gives us another option other than Madden or FIFA.

Don't wast your money, NHL 16 rehashed...but worse
I was so looking forward to this game after all I'd heard about the EA team putting an increased focus on presentation and milestones, etc. Let's face it, the presentation of the Stanley Cup on NHL 16 was awful and boring and not worth the payoff of working your way through an 82 game season plus playoffs. However, I ended up selling this game after just two days of trying it out on EA Access. There are no improvements, as far as I can tell. Arena atmospheres are awkward. No goal music plays after anyone scores, just loud horns announcing the goals, brief cheers from the crowd and then before the puck is dropped for the next face off, everyone is back in their seats and the arena is almost completely silent. There's no momentum carried over for the home team at all. The commentary is carbon copied from NHL 16 with only a few brief new statements added, like Doc talking about a team giveaway or a player's first game with his new team. I don't think a handful of new commentary is worth the cost of this game.My biggest issue with the game was the gameplay itself. It's regressed terribly from NHL 16. No matter how difficult or easy the settings are adjusted, every game is still full of goals and you can fire 50 great shots on goal and not get one in the net, but your opponent will send a shot from a horrendous angle and score every single time. The penalties are also ridiculous. I had the sliders set as low as possible after being called for multiple penalties simultaneously in every single game and was STILL penalized constantly while the other team never saw the box.In hindsight, I wish I'd waited to read reviews before buying this game but I'm glad I never opened the copy I bought and was able to return it. I won't make the mistake of pre-ordering an EA NHL game ever again.
