I love my winsor and newton cotman series of watercolors. what advantages would i see with the professional series?

I believe the difference is the professional grade has a greater amount or quality of pigment, but personally, I do a lot of field sketches and I am very happy with the Cotman series and saving money by using them.

Can anyone tell me what paints are in this kit?

You'll essentially find a cool and warm shade of yellow, red and blue, plus 2 shades of green and 3 earth colors. To suit my style, I would replace the black with either a Payne's Gray or Neutral Tint and swap out the white with Buff Titanium. Of course, it's all a matter of personal preference, but this palette is a good choice for anyone wishing to upgrade from a student, grade paint like the Cotman line from W/N.

When using this where do you put the water, except on the paints.......do most people carry a little water dish or ?

The cover of the set is designed to be used as a water dish. It has a tab so it can hang onto the top of the set. I usually bring a 2oz Nalgene bottle of water and use that instead. I've tried using the cover and it works pretty well also.

Are the Artist's watercolors the same as Professional or the same as Cotman?

I have been told that they are professional grade and not student quality Cotman. The biggest problem is that the paint squares do not stay in their place and tend to fall out .
