Coupled with a thumbs-up grip (lever), this hand grip makes the GR3 comfortable to hold. Your right index finger presses into the top indentation on the wooden grip, while the thumb lever provides an opposing force that helps secure the GR3 or GR3X firmly in one hand. It’s especially helpful when shooting one-handed, particularly with the Ricoh telephoto or wide-angle lens adapters. Even without the tele or wide adapters, I find the GR3/GR3X easier to handle with this grip and the thumbs-up lever. Because the camera is easier to hold, I can shoot for extended periods. The SD card is difficult to remove when the grip is attached, but I usually connect the GR3 and GR3X to my laptop via USB-C—easy and convenient. The grip includes a flat screwdriver that snaps magnetically onto the bottom, which is a thoughtful touch. Not cheap, but not cheaply made either. The ebony grip looks discreet, which is great for street shooting. Yes, it adds some bulk to the camera, but the GR3/GR3X (and soon, the GR4) are still small and capable—part of why I like them so much. I understand that adding a grip slightly compromises the minimalist appeal of the GR series, but for me, ergonomics matter. Making my GR3/GR3X more comfortable to hold helps in specific shooting scenarios—street, travel, and long outings. I also like that I can remove the grip when I don’t need it. Summary: If you get this grip, also get a thumbs-up grip. You can leave the thumbs-up grip on all the time. When street shooting, adventure traveling, or shooting for long sessions, you can quickly attach this hand grip to secure the GR3/GR3X. A good grip on the camera is essential for capturing the decisive moment.

I am so glad I got this wooden grip. The Ricoh GRiii is so nice and compact and even though I don’t have large hands, I felt like with the way my hand would have to hold the camera, my hand would be prone to cramping. The grip fits the camera perfectly. The dark color keeps the camera on the incognito side. There is a space to open the battery compartment without removing the grip. There is also a gap on the side where you can attach a wrist strap. I tried attaching one to the camera itself and the holes for the strap are so small that it wouldn’t work with the ring. The strap that comes with the camera works fine but I wanted something a bit more substantial and that just barely fits the space left on the grip plate which also had a gap for it to still sit flat in a table. Genius. I love this grip!

I love my GRiiix and the only complaint I had was with the grip. I have fairly large hands and the GR IIIx almost felt like a toy in my hand and didn't help much with the handling. This hand grip made the experience much better. I can now easily shoot using just one hand and don't have to worry about dropping the camera. You still need to have a strap for safety but the grip enhances the handling multifold. I looks good too and doesn't look like some cheap aftermarket grips. It does add a bit of bulk but not too bad. You can still pocket this camera in your trouser pocket. Highly recommended!

Great idea but no. I appreciate that it’s sturdy but it’s heavy and clunky. The wood is pretty but it’s heavily lacquered and shiny which I dislike. The fit looks like an afterthought — not bespoke. It doesn’t fit properly on the camera literally or visually. Owners of this camera are likely similarly meticulous and particular and this doesn’t cut it — especially with the large branding. I’d love to try again. If it was $30 I’d have kept it, but not $80.

This is a nice addition to my Ricoh GR III street camera. It makes it easy to hold for one handed shooting. Plus, it looks snazzy.

The holder was too thick. Probably would have worked better with the thinner GR III

Despite being advertised to go with a GRIII (and lens cap) on the Amazon product page..it does not fit !

Ricoh GR III is certainly marketed (only 2 years ago) as a ‘go anywhere pocketable premium compact camera’ primarily for Street Photography. However, I do find the GR III a tad light and small for a good and steady one hand operation. This plate with Swiss Arca Quick Release baseplate and ergonomic designed wooden handle, but these are well integrated and not very heavy (~125 gm). Indeed, once attached to the GR III it is so well balanced for comfortable handhold for one-hand shooting situation or just steadying the camera. Although GR III is designed for ‘on the go’ Street Photography - I intend to use the camera for long exposures on landscapes & seascapes, but with a pocket/traveller tripod with Swiss Arca head. However, I would have liked the manufacturer to include a removable ‘portrait’ format Swiss Arca plate. It’s a pity this item is ‘Currently Unavailable’ (generally means ‘discontinued’!) on Amazon - as I would highly recommend this gadget to GR III. NOTE TO SUPPLIER: Since attaching this unit on my camera, I have had many GRist (fellow Ricoh GR users or fans) enquiring about this Hand Grip product and how and were they can purchase one for their GR III camera! Since I reviewed this product - I have now ordered an Ebony wood grip version from Amazon!

I have small hands and the GR has suited that perfectly, but when others borrowed the camera to take a shot they found it a little cramped. I recently bought the lens to attach and this put the camera little out of balance. Adding this grip has made it easier again and my son now likes using the camera as it fits his larger hands better.

GR IIIxに付けています。底面開口部の大きさが僅かに小さくSDカードが取り出せないと、他の方のレビューでありましたが、こちらでは問題なく取り出し・挿入できました。改良されたのか、個体差なのかはわかりません。 このグリップか他のものでも良いですが、何もつけないGR IIIxは小さすぎて、手振れしないようにホールドするのが大変でしたが、ようやく真っ当な撮影ができるようになりました。
