This gate has proven to be excellent for keeping my 2-year-old safe, the sturdy metal construction easily contains him. I appreciate that it came with two installation options (drilling or pressure-mounted), and I opted for the more permanent drilling method. The features are fantastic, I particularly love the dual-way opening door, the automatic closing mechanism, and the easy one-handed operation. The only minor downside, typical for this type of gate, is the bottom rail, which you have to be mindful of as it could be a tripping hazard, especially if you install it at the top of the stairs

This baby gate worked wonderfully at the top and bottom of my stairs. Easy installation and strong quality. It looks nice, provides secure safety and is a great price.

I needed a way to keep my dog out of the master bedroom, but closing the door interfered with the air flow from the HVAC system. I wasn't crazy about having to open/close a gate to get into the master bedroom but this gate makes it easy! The 90-degree "stay open" feature is a definite plus. When I'm home, my dog knows the room is off-limits and doesn't try to enter so I can leave the gate in the open position, making it easy to go in and out of the room. When I'm not at home, closing the gate keeps my dog our of the room. The latch mechanism is well-designed; it's secure enough to keep a toddler from being able to open the gate, but easy enough to teach an older child (4 or 5+ yrs old) how to use if desired. The height of the gate is also a plus - it's tall enough that I'm not stooping to open the latch. I opted for a non-permanent installation of the gate and purchased "Wall Nanny - Baby Gate Wall Protectors" to use in conjunction with the gate to provide a secure, non-damaging installation. Very pleased with the quality and durability of both the gate and the Wall Nanny protectors.

First, I did not read the instructions to leave the plastic clamping band "ON" until after assembly; however, even though I removed it before installation, this gate was still easy to install. Whether used for house pets or children, the top mounted door latch works great by pressing side buttons while pulling the latch to rearward. The (4) separate round gate receptor cups with attaching screws screwed into the door frame side jambs work "great" to prevent the gate assembly from sliding out of the door frame. Gate can be positioned to either open in, open out, and/or open both ways, and the gate can be set for self-closing and self-latching or opened wider to remain wide-open as desired. Two (2) extra and different width and matching metal fence side parts comes with this assembly to fit different width openings and door frames. Always a good idea to "first" measure one's opening width prior to ordering and prior to final assembly. When installing the four (4) screwed in cups into both sides of the opening frame, best to use a carpenter's lever to ensure this gate will be installed almost perfectly level horizontally and almost perfectly plumb vertically "as directed and instructed" to achieve proper function and latching ..... just like any other installed door with hinges and a latch. Maybe read some of the less popular reviews to be aware that spacing of the fence/gate bars were not designed for containing small kittens, and/or pet rats; this gate will not contain small elephants or small hippos; if you cannot install screws in the door frame for the (4) mounting cups, a large dog or large toddler could possibly push this gate down like all of the other gates that come "without" screw attached mounting cups and will depend only on friction for securing this gate; below this assembled opened gate is a structurally secured metal cross bar below near the floor that one can notice before or after opening this gate ..... if one feels nobody has enough Common Sense to step over this cross bar below to avoid tripping over same, maybe either do not buy this gate or maybe place a cross bar "WarningWsign" with an arrow pointing below on both sides of this gate; just in case a door opening is a little too wide, four short or two longer wood 2x4s or 1x4s could easily be screwed into the door frame on one or both sides with this extra wood painted or varnished to match the wood door frame; and let all of us never forget that just like with all assembled products bought On-line today, whether one has (16) Masters Degrees and/or (10) PhDs and Zero (0) Common Sense, each product purchased on the internet today could easily be destined to achieve similar listed one (1) star or two (2) star ratings. I ordered this gate back in January of 2025 and I've generally had no problem (up until now). I love the automatic close feature and the ease of use in opening and closing with the latch/handle. Very sturdy in keeping my dogs out of unwanted areas. I haven't really needed to use the bottom notches that allow you to restrict the open/close directionality but it's nice to have if it's a feature you need for any reason. I had to bump it down a star because it's been less than a year and it already broke. The gate itself is fine but a part must've fallen out with the spring attachment that allows me to fully lock the gate once it closes. I had to tighten it against the wall and rely on the bottom notch so that it can only be opened in a "pull" direction so that my dogs still can't get through the gate. I'm really bummed because I feel like it was a really good product for the price, but just beware; I'm lucky my dogs don't have the dexterity to pull on the gate the way a toddler might.

Easy to put up and use!

I use this to coordin off my house so the dogs can't run amuck it works perfectly they can't open it due to the push and pull latch and it closes behind me before they get thru. My 40 lbs pocket pitty trys to push it open and the gate always wins 💪!

I purchased 3 different baby gates until I finally found the perfect one! (Safety 1st and Regalo) Safety 1st is sturdy but not exactly easy to install and also the latch tends to get stuck after a while. The other brand I purchased but returned was Regalo brand...yes it was easy to install but what is the point if the slightest push gets the gate crashing down the stairs (defeats the purpose of a baby gate). This brand however, is extremely sturdy, easy to assemble, and the latch is completely easy to use. I also love the feature where in 90 degrees, it locks the gate open and any degree less gets the door to shut automatically. It comes with 2 different extenders that you don't have to use or you can use one of and/or both.
