No leaks if you follow these simple directions!
I have never written an amazon review before in the many years I have been a customer. I felt compelled to do so after seeing all the bad reviews this product has unfairly received. I studied all the good reviews and bad reviews before I bought this and I gave it a try. I've had it setup for a month now and it works PERFECTLY. Not a single drop of water has leaked. The secret to making sure it doesn't leak from the faucet tap is to follow the advice of another reviewer who had success with this method and posted it. I used his technique and it worked just as he said it would. When you install the faucet you will find that you are supplied with two rubber gaskets that go one on each side of the metal housing of the dispenser body. You will notice that these gaskets are flared out with the flared end facing away from the metal on either side. The secret is to make sure that it is tight enough that these gaskets are no longer flared but flush on either side. If they do not appear flush or almost flush, it's not tight enough and it might leak! Hand tightening is not enough, you need to use a pliers or ideally a 1-1/8" socket over the nut and turn that by hand. If the gasket is still not flush or you want to be extra sure, fill the tank with HOT water up to the top of the nut and let it sit for 5 minutes. Carefully drain the hot water and immediately take your socket and tighten it again. You will find you will get another half turn out of it at least. Obviously, be careful not to over tighten or you could bend the metal. So to summarize, if the gaskets do not appear flush its not tight enough! It may leak. It's that simple folks. All the jokers who are saying the good reviews are paid reviews or there is no wrong way to do it are fools. These are not paid reviews, it's common sense and yes there is a wrong way to do it. As far as it leaking out the seams as some have suggested I have no seen that and since those are all old reviews I think it's safe to assume the manufacturer has since corrected any of those kind of defects. I highly recommend this dispenser. For the ultimate combo buy the no spill cap that works for crocks. Works great. UPDATE: Over 2 years and 4 months later and not a single drop has leaked from either the tap or the seams. We use it every day. Fantastic product.

Great product, bottom needs a mat
Love the stainless steel. Using with a 3 gal job of water. No leaks from the top or from the valve assembly. Easy to put together. Simple to wipe down. Dispenser is plastic. I bought a stainless steel dispenser instead. The washers with the stainless steel dispenser stunk like a fragrance chemical. Days in sunlight did nothing. Tried the washers from the plastic dispenser included with enviro product. Fit just fine. Up and going and now I have a stainless steel container, stainless steel dispenser, and no leaks. I noticed the same problem as another reviewer - the bottom. It's basically think metal in a circle shape that touches the counter. It doesn't feel that smooth or safe for a counter. I put an old cardboard back of a pad of paper down as a mat for the container. The bottom could use a redesign to be less hurtful to counters. Will it scratch a counter? I don't know. I don't want to chance it. Replacing a counter costs more than a mat to cushion this enviro container. We got this to replace a plastic dispenser that screws onto the jug bottle openings. We had a fairly new one that just kept leaking with any bottle we tried. So we didn't want to muck around with the screw on dispenser caps, their o-rings, and all that stuff. They say the screw on dispensers don't leak and they're partially right. It doesn't "leak," it just drips out the excess water on your floor after a few seconds of closing the dispenser. Kind of like if you suck water up a straw, hold at an angle, and let go. Air comes up the bottom, water goes out. That's what we kept having with the dispensers that go on top of jugs. So we tried this. It's so easy and so nice. When it's empty, I just wipe it out, easy to clean in seconds. Load up a new jug. Back in business. No leaks and no more drip drip drip like we had with the screw on cap dispensers. Haven't tried the plastic dispenser included with the enviro; we used a separate stainless steel dispenser. I love this enviro product. We still have a bowl on the floor just in case of a leak, spill, or whatever ... thanks to years of drips from the old screw on dispenser we used before this enviro. It's so nice to wake up and see the bowl dry with the enviro container. Will it hold a 5 gallon? I don't know. 5 gallons is beyond my weight limit. Works great with 3 gallon jugs.

One of the worst product I ever bought....a water dispenser that leaks
total price paid: 71.85 Hello. Although I been purchaseing products for well over decade from Amazon, I never written a review for Amazon before.. till now. Just an awful product. This is a very cheaply made, badly engineered and awful quality control for such simple device costing so much for what it is. As soon as I set this up, it sprung a leak from the spoket that connects to main body of the dispenser. I tightened the plastic nut that holds the spigot to the stainless steel reservoir as much as I can to stop the leak. Apparently you can't...The provided rubber gasket(washer) that's designed to prevent leak is "not soft enough" to do its intended job, so it's letting water out about drop per second. Also, because there isn't any built in "stopper/blocker", if you happen to even just tap the spigot accidently, spigot gets loose and water is leaking everywhere. This is a cost cutting, lack of real world product testing and poor engineering at its best... Later, I also found another slow leak from the reservoir base. The reservoir is made of what looks like thick sheet metal, machine rolled body and stamped on base. The leak is coming from where the body meets the base. Considering the risk of more copies being defective as mine was, I will not, can not recommend this product to anyone. EDIT: 7/18/2011 I wouldn't go as far as to say disregard all five star reviews. However, I just want to point out that couple of five star reviews are "most certainly suspicious." EDIT: 8/23/2011 The two obviously "funded" reviews been removed since this morning. I won't guess who or why they did this, because I don't need to....just awful EDIT: 9/22/2011 To FINALLY address the possibility of faulty installations; You really can not improperly set this up...How many sane ways can anyone install this product? It's like Lego set for three year olds, there's only ONE logical way to assemble this thing... If there ever were some other weird unorthodox ways of assembling it, I would have tried it that too, just to stop the leak and deal with it...but there wasn't... I would much prefered to have this thing work then to waste my time and energy of going through the trouble of repacking and sending this thing back. I don't know about current copy, but when I purchased this product back in 2008, it was badly engineered using very VERY cheap defective "imported" parts. I simply wrote the review based on M.Y. own personal experience ONE particular copy of this product, the company behind it , and people who work for the company who produced this product.

Very happy with this dispenser! Please read my review for some good tips.
We have been very happy with our New Wave Enviro stainless steel water dispenser! We've been using it for over a month now with no issues, no leaking whatsoever. We have Mountain Valley Water delivered in 5 gallon glass jugs to our home every month, and this dispenser works great for our jugs! We originally ordered the blue striped ceramic dispenser from our distributor, but I immediately returned it when it dawned on me that it's ceramic and contains lead (it has a prop 65 warning on it because of the lead). I was happy to see this stainless steel one available online for much cheaper than what our distributor was charging. In addition to preferring the stainless steel, I am also happy with the smaller size of this dispenser (2.2 gallon vs. I think the ceramic was 2.5 gallon). I prefer the smaller size because the top, outside part of the water jugs inevitably touch the water you end up drinking, as the jugs sit in the dispenser. We have to wipe the outside of the jugs (as they reasonably get dirty during transport) before loading onto the dispenser, and with the 2.2 gallon size stainless steel crock, less of the jug goes into the dispenser, so less of the jug touches the water we drink. So that's a big bonus for us! Also, we purchased a stainless steel spigot to use instead of the plastic one that comes with the crock. Per a previous review, we decided to buy the "Stainless Works (by D.X.-OLDEGG Innovations, LLC) SSS010 Stainless Steel Beverage Dispenser Replacement Spigot (Fits 5/8 inch or 16 mm opening", and it's been great. It feels solid and quality - and we've had no issues, no leaking, just make sure you tighten properly. For cold water, we simply dispense from our stainless steel crock into a glass pitcher and store in our fridge. So happy we took the plunge to end our years-long use of plastic bottled (yuck!) reverse osmosis water (stripped down, no nutrient water). Love drinking the best water available without using any plastic! (Tip for women buying Mountain Valley Water in glass jugs: The 5 gallon water jugs are extremely heavy, and I cannot lift them myself to load onto the dispenser, my husband has to do it. I'm working on strength training, so I can one day lol. So if you're not strong enough and don't have a man available to help, you might consider the much more manageable 2.5 gallon size glass jugs available through MVW. And if you're buying the 2.5 jug, you might not need a dispenser after all, as they may be light enough for you to just pour straight from the jug itself.)

Stainless version is well built, but does not come with a lid.
The stainless steel version is well built. Tightened the spigot down and had a small leak at first but gave it another turn and it stopped. I didn’t realize that this did not come with a lid. Wasn’t very clear in the description, bit I will keep it and try to find one that works for it.

Good quality but higher maintainence
I just bought this item as an alternative to a standard ceramic crock. I have always used ceramic in the past and there is nothing wrong with the ceramic. They have proven themselves over time to be very hearty, durable and easily cleanable. However I just wanted to try the stainless steel model for it's lighter weight and durability because we Tend to move things around a lot. And I'm just a big stainless fan. Upon arrival it was in very good shape. The construction is hearty. I would say 16-18 gauge steel and very lightweight in comparison with the previous ceramic ones I have used. Here are some the differences I have taken into account. - The edges Are a little sharp. the bottom edge where the plate and sidewalls are connected create a lip that is sharp on the bottom. I would recommend setting this on something to avoid scratching your countertop. The top edge is also sharp but comes with a beefy plastic ring that will allow your water bottle to sit comfortably without scratching. The spigot is plastic and installs easily. I recommend tightening it snuggly by hand enough to avoid leaks. - another concern vs. ceramic is that this is made from two pieces of steel rather than one solid piece On the inside where the bottom and the sides join there is a small groove similar to the inside of a #10 can. A ceramic crock is smooth inside and is easily cleaned. this groove may present a problem area for Some. Yes clean filtered water Goes in but because of the air gap between the top of the crock and the neck of the bottle algae growth can and will happen. keep an eye on this. You should clean inside any crock frequently, usually between bottles. An extra toothbrush and a spritz of vinegar or bleach once In a while hould keep it clean. - The weight. The plus side of this crock is that it is very light. Although that may be a problem when refilling with a new Bottle. The weight of a ceramic crock usually keeps it in place. This one must be firmly anchored so it does not slip. - aesthetics. Stainless, as pretty as it is, usually shows fingerprints and watermarks easily. So you may have to clean this more often than a typical ceramic crock. In the end this is a great product but unless you're just looking for stainless to match your kitchen or the lighter weight they're largely the same product at the same price. It may be a little higher maintenance but it's well worth the quality if you choose to go this route.

NO LEAKING so far!
I followed (Kevin in Florida) instructions to the letter without issues. However, we're only using 3 gallon water bottles. I don't know about adding a 5 gallon bottles of water?
