Queen Bees [DVD]

Should've been a series
I had first heard of this project when it was supposed to be a Netflix series called Welcome to Pine Grove. Then the title changed to Never Too Late and upon release now it's Queen Bees. I loved this movie. ANYTHING with Ann-Margret is a must see in my book even though she's underutilized here. I've always liked Ellen Burstyn and Christopher Lloyd. I can't believe Loretta DeVine is 71 years old and Jane Curtin is REALLY good at being a bit**. Most of the best scenes from the trailer happened in the first 22 minutes of the movie but the characters kept my interest. As much as I'm happy it was even made and released I still wish it had been a series instead. Each resident of Pine Grove deserves to have their backstory told and all the legendary actors DESERVE a steady gig. But alas all I can say is that there better be a sequel. Otherwise all our time has been wasted.

So good
I'm not the biggest romcom fan, but I don't know if this even classifies. It's so natural, the acting was 100. Not surprising considering the years of experience in the cast, but just so much more funny and feel good than I expected. I'm barely 40 and I loved it. Hits everyone, despite age

A Most Lovable Movie!
This movie is about new beginnings, enduring friendships, and living life to the fullest all under one roof; at a retirement home. Wonderful and unforgettable!

Simple, Lazy and Waste of Talent and Time
A harmless, boring movie that could have been much less predictable. The story line was phoned in with stereotypes littered throughout, the fast forward button is your friend if you chose this movie, better off waiting for it to move the "included with prime" if you must.

This is one FUN movie. and yes it does bring tears....
Men are not supposed to cry... yeah right... This movie made me tear up and laugh.... and I had the pleasure of sharing this with my wife... and it was a real pleasure to watch... Excellent actors, real life situations and an enjoyable time... This is one movie that really is a treasure. I would give 5 stars... but 4 will have to do... but I would recommend this movie as a great family movie.

Stopped watching halfway...
Honestly, this belongs free with limited commercials on the Hallmark Channel not $20 to rent. It got a favorable review on the NY Times and we were in the mood for a feel-good so it seemed like a good fit. We kept trying to like it but the plot and characterization were poor and seemed disrespectful to, instead of celebrating, the elderly. The acting, which was played up in the NYT review, was OK by the main actors probably but the script was laughingly bad so they didn't have much to work with. Lots of unbelievable things--someone attending a funeral the morning after someone dies, the woman moving into a fancy retirement complex for "a month" (they typically have a house-sized non-refundable deposit), etc.--made it clear the writers had no clue what they were talking about and didn't care a lick to check any of it. Save yourself the time and money and pass on this one.

Extremely Entertaining
Three generations of my family watched this, ages 20-72 and we ALL loved this movie. Comedy and drama rolled into one. We laughed and sighed. We definitely recommend this for all ages.

Emotional and heartwarming
i really liked it...a reminder that just because we age and go thru some not so pleasant changes that doesn't mean life can't still be fun and there are new memories to be made <3

Great movie, great cast!
Ellen Burston is a widow living alone, when her house goes up in flames, her daughter tries to convince here she needs to be in a retirement home...her Grandson, is more to her liking and is apparently her best friend played with great charm by Matthew Barnes...Ann-Margret is along for the ride and even at her age, looks great and still plays the sex kitten to a t!. Loretta Devine is very funny, and Jane Curtin is the bitchy one of the group. There is also a very hot swim coach and kinda male stripper who keeps the ladies happy. Then there is James Caan as the love interest, but takes a back seat to the four female leads. This is a very cute and funny movie, and as long as Ann-Margret is making movies, I will always enjoy them..The chemistry between Ellen Burstyn and Matthew Barnes really is one of the best things about the movie as they play their scenes with great love for each other`s character...Enjoy it! Too bad there were not special features on this, would have liked to see the cast interview...One of the best movies I have seen this year!

Not as funny as expected!
Disappointed in this movie. Thought there would have been more humour around antics of Queen Bees!
