The world as we see now, thanks to these people.
I'm speechless about this book. We've all read about these people at some point in our lives but we have never come to deepen into them to see what they really were. Monarchs, thinkers, scientists and even revolutionaries left their mark in history to change the course of world we see now. This book has brought together the most controversial people in one book to show their actions and take some aspects of thhem. Has been a long time since I felt so happy with a book like this. I loved it and I say it honestly because although I am always a little hard on the history books, this has everything.Dominique Atkinson, I congratulate you for this great book

Quick Summary
This book is a quick summary of famous British individuals that had a significant impact on history. I liked the way the book is organized. Each chapter contains the Fundamental History, Early Influences, Life Changing Events, & Lasting Impact. However the selected people are pretty standard: Winston Churchill, Oliver Cromwell, Henry VIII, Elizabeth of Tudor, William Shakespeare, Isaac Newton, James Cook, Charles Darwin, John Lennon and Princess Diana. No surprises here! The prose is nondescript and the book needs a good editor. I also didn't get much new insight or knowledge even though I have only a superficial understanding of some of these people.

A good book to those who want to get to know about British history.
If you are looking for a brief key historical greats whose existance was unparalleled and vastly changed the course of British history, this book is all that you need. The content may be too compact to thoroughly understand how each personality developed over his / her lifetime, even though the author did a great job in summarizing key events what made them who they were. I had a nice reading time with this book!

Desperately Seeking an Editor
This is obviously a self-published book. And, the author must have spent all of her money getting the book published because she clearly couldn't be bothered to have someone edit the manuscript. Even a quick proofread by a competent high schooler would have improved this third-rate effort. In the first two chapters, I counted almost a dozen misspellings, typos, run-on sentences and indiscriminate use of commas. I'm a 7th grade teacher and I thought this would be great for my small classroom library. But, I can't do it. The execution is so error-strewn that it serves as a poor role model for my 12 year old students. There were very few reviewers of this book and the ones that gave this book 5 stars must be relatives and friends of the author.

Excellent History Book
Well written page turner. Provides an interesting read. Not boring like other history books. You will enjoy learning facts not usually published.

Nice lite read
A nice summary. Though I would add Maggie T to the list too. She also changed the face of england for the good with the fall of communism

A Necessity
Another book that you should have if you want to know a lot of knowledge. The book is a comprehensive collection that includes only the important information you should know. It narrates events in a way you will not feel some points are missing (even there are many). The author writes it in a smooth manner that will not bore you.A good research right after reading this book will be great to further your study.

Get past page 1 and it's a good book
The book opens with "[Henry VIII] lived over half a century ago" (BTW so did I), so I nearly gave up on page 1. However I persevered and am pleased that I did. It's never going to be easy writing a person's biography in one chapter and there will be disagreements but on the whole it captured the essence of most of the people. I wouldn't have chosen the same ten people but that's personal choice. It's an easy read (despite the lack of proof-reading). I would recommend this book.

A good book
Well-written and interesting, I would recommend it. I would miss more important British people right there, I am thinking of the Old English time, and more about literature. But still, it is a very interesting book.

Books like this are interesting from the point of view of introducing the reader to to each person but there is only a very brief account of the individuals involved.

A interesting book for all
A very interesting book with a lot of detail, it isn't too confusing for the younger reader ( age 9). Keeps a child's interest without coming across as a boring history lesson , questions are easily answered. It isn't only children who would find this book helpful . The way facts are put across are in a lot of detail and not just skimming over. Exactly what a child needs to Lean about what made Great Britain Great.

The greats who changed British attitudes.
An entertaining 'heads up' snappy history of world renowned British notaries from wars to pop music, complete with minor spelling mistakes.
