The De'Longhi is pretty cool
8/3/23 I have a large towel laid that I use to soak up the drainage. It finally released some water. When the towel is saturated, I exchange it for another towel. Still a great unit.8/2/23 Unit still running fine. 77 F is the lowest temp. in prob. 800 sf. I could get in Maryland today and have it turn on/off to save electric.7/26/23 ..with an exchanged unit, set at 73, the drain stayed dry for 85 degree outside temperatures. The rattling of the cage was no longer audible in this replaced unit. The unit was not too loud at all.. Smooth sailing. I upped the stars to five (5).7/14/23 The ONLY problem I had was the cage rattling and the drain happening to often. ..had to exchange the unit. ..picked the unit up the next day, and shipped out a replacement two days later. Keep your box just in case you have to send it in for service or exchange. Stars four (4).

EXPENSIVE LEMON !
I ordered this DeLonghi 14,000 BTU air conditioner with UV-Carelight on August 11th 2021 and it cooled quickly in a 92 degree large open space. But, as you can see from the photo, it now sits outside with a cut cord waiting to go to the dump.In October I turned on the unit for its UV properties and it worked for a couple of days until the fan started to make a loud screeching sound. I unplugged the unit and called DeLonghi Customer Service (CS) who asked me to make a video of the fan noise so they could evaluate the problem. I could not duplicate the problem, so I didn't send the video assuming it had self-corrected..In June 2022 (after just a few days of AC use when I bought it) I set up the unit and turned on the air conditioner. The fan blew air, but the compressor never turned on and the unit went off and on at will. It blew hot air!I called customer service with the reasonable assumption that DeLonghi would send a new replacement. I provided a video and cut the cord as instructed since they don't retrieve broken air conditioners. However, although 100% on my side, CS said the Company's policy is to replace the unit with a reconditioned one that may or may not be the same color or have the same features, and whose warranty continues with the existing purchase.CS contacted his manager at my request for a new unit with new warranty because it was used less than a month, and the answer was "no." I asked him whether there was someone else who could evaluate the situation and that person said OK to a new unit, same as I bought, but warranty continues from original purchase date. There were no refurbished machines available. The CS and I agreed this is the best we could do so I compromised. CS said he would follow through so the process moves ASAP and I'm sure to get a new unit. Since DeLonghi doesn't accept returns of broken units I asked CS how they get the A/Cs for refurbishments. In the worst-possible consumer scenario, where do the refurbs come from?? Well, they're the ones that "fall" off the truck when being delivered and therefore not accepted by the customer. Dings and bangs. Yup!!WHAT???!!! I just spent $645 for this barely-used air conditioner (minus money Amazon reimbursed me to buy dust covers that were advertised [at the time] as included but neither Amazon CS nor I could convince DeLonghi to send them) and countless h-o-u-r-s searching Amazon for the right free-standing air conditioner to meet our needs.A week later I received a notice that the label was created for "new" AC from DeLonghi. At this writing, it's two weeks and no sign of shipment. By now, the temperature in the Great Room is close to 90 degrees. So...I call Amazon CS and within 20 minutes I've 'returned' the AC and received a refund so this week I will have a functional AC and maybe two for a second room. Amazon Customer Service Rocks! It may be the last vestige of Corporate customer service.

Had to order a replacement
Easy to unpack. Just cut the straps and box sides lift up. No need to cut box. Easy set up with exhaust to window. Relatively quiet when running and does a fantastic job cooling. HOWEVER.....We left her running all night. Woke up to water on the floor!!! We were unaware that the bottom of the unit was broken. When I turned unit over to examine the bottom, a very large crack was evident.Contacted the company and they issued a replacement immediately. I packaged the broken one in the new ones box, printed a label, and UPS picked it up from our house. The new unit is working beautifully and we are very happy.

Easy to use and cools entire condo
Condo is about 1k SF, long and narrow, 1 floor with 3 bdrms/1 bath. I have 1 unit at the back of the unit near kitchen and aimed down long hallway which is center of unit. I had to wait for a week of excessive heat warnings to review to see how this handled Chicago heat index over 100 degrees with 80+% humidity. It's great.Setup: The unit is VERY easy to setup. The manual wasn't as in depth as I would have liked, but the unit works well.Dehumidifier: releases the water captured out the hose connected to the window, so there is no manual disposing of water like I have had in other dehumidifiers. It also cools as if in a/c mode while it is removing the water from the air.A/C: I like the ability to adjust where the air hits, has good angle to make the entire room / space comfortable. There is no jerky loud noise like you get with a window unit as the unit cycles on/off to regulate temperature.Cons:1. You set the temp you want, but the unit doesn't tell you what the current temperature or humidity % is or how close your unit is getting to the set #.2. I'm not sure if this unit is going to tell me when to clean the filters or if I just need to manually do it every so often. These aren't that significant to me though and the ease of no longer lifting a super heavy window unit in/out of a frame is great.

It cannot drive a 200 ft^2 room
I bought this before the summer. Now, the summer is totally ended and winter even begins, I want to share some about this AC. I put this AC in my less than 200 ft^2 living room; however, when the sun really burns during noon on the hottest days, you can feel the coolness and only where it blows cool air. To be honest, if possible, I really want to return this item.
