Safe Secure Water Supply
Update #2 - Summer 2025 Seams finally starting to give out after 3 years of constant indoor use. Two canisters rendered unusable until I find a way to close the leaks or decide to replace them. UPDATE: I’ve been cycling water using this system for almost a year now with no problem. No leaks, no broken seams, nada. Weather forecast predicts temps at 100+ degrees for the next two weeks (and likely longer). I would buy more of these water jugs if I had a place to put them but that’s the anxiety talking . . . system works the way it should. I moved to Tucson in April 2022 and after 2 years of COVID and having survived a derecho in Iowa no way in h*** was I going to live in the desert without an emergency water supply. It took 4 months and a lot of Amazon research but I finally settled on these 6-gallon Igloo water jugs for indoor storage of my emergency drinking water supply (I also have a 55-gallon drum of non-drinking water that I keep outside). I like them because there’s no chemical smell, and because I can store them upright without putting pressure on the seal that might cause leaks over time. I switched out Igloo’s highly phallic pour-spouts for the red gas caps which seem to have a much stronger seal, and also followed the directions posted by another reviewer for how to drill one of those caps to insert a spigot that lets me transform the storage container into an accessible water source for every-day use. This system allows me to cycle through the stored water so it never sits for more than a few months at a time.

Good solid water can
I bought this can to use for camping, and I'm happy with the purchase. This is a good, sturdy, solid water can. I had no problems at all with leakage. The cap sealed solidly (make sure the gasket is in place properly), and the detachable spout made pouring easy and precise. The two handles are what makes this can stand out, and they make handling and pouring a cinch. Keep in mind that a full 6-gallon can will weigh about fifty pounds, so lifting and pouring will be a challenge. I've used Igloo products for many years and have generally had good experiences with them - this can is no exception. A good solid water can, at a great price.

Ready to hike the Sahara
Made in the USA - the bottom of each container has the number 2 thing on it. When one buys a 16 ounce plastic water bottle it has a cap with threads all the way around it. These bottles have threads but they do not go all the way around but they secure very tight the trick though to easily get the cap to thread on is to notice the two nipples on each side of the white cap (these can be used to tie string or something to secure the cap if you want) and line up the two nipples with the non threaded area of the blue container and then the cap easily goes on and tightens; otherwise it just may spin round and round. The picture indicates the nozzle end has a cap on it none of mine came with a cap. The relief valve works great because it cannot be lost it is to be pulled up to where nice air flow channel is visible in the valve it does not pull out but so far so no worries that this is going to pop off it does not thread on but just pushes down to close it.

Great for refilling the water tank on our travel trailer
We have a travel trailer with a 30 gallon water tank - not enough for a 2 week trip in a campground where we have to lug water from a pump especially when we are taking showers in the trailer. The upside of this water container is that it has a handle on the side to help lift it up to fill the water tank on the trailer. It is also fillable using the same water filter we use to fill the tank on the trailer, so we can filter the water before putting it into the trailer. The downside is that as a 6 gallon container, it weighs over 50 lbs when full, so it is hard to lift up high enough to fill the trailer. We solve that problem by sliding our cooking table under it to help take the weight. My husband can manage it when full. I usually only fill it half full and make more trips. We already had another 5 gallon container, but this one is easier to use because of the handle on the side to help lift it. This was a good purchase for the money.

Improved?
Mixed emptions here. I have several of the older style 6 gallon Igloo water carriers that this one replaces. This one has a MUCH better vent location, and same good nozzle, but it doesn't seal as well as the old model around the nozzle/cap, and they weren't all that great as it was. Works fine of you can carry them upright, as I can. Avoid buying if you must lay them down, unless you like whatever they are laying on to be wet. That aside, they are tough, and my only gripe is after about 5 years of use two of mine started to leak right on the seam on the bottom center. Tried every glue imaginable - waste of money on the glue.... Still, 5 years use is worth the bucks to me to get new ones... Only other aggravation is tying a half dozen of them down to the Hitch Haul using the top handle to run Rope Ratchets through, these new models are same dimension as the old at the rear of the handle, but the handle opening is about an inch shorter in front.

I HAVE 13 OF THESE.....
I love their profile, their capacity, they are slim and fit into a confined space (linen closet) beautifully....all 13! Linen included. My ONLY knock on them is that they are not stackable. But nothing can be all things to all people. If there were to be a "taste" I would simply filter the water through my MiniSawyer. End of taste. I think they are a great bang for your buck. Sturdy, affordable, I like the syphon, it's all good with these containers. Best of luck.

Nice solid container that will be useful for what I need it for. Might be a little pricey when compared to alternative ways to carry water, but it feels like quality and was the size and shape I required. It depends on whether you need that level of quality, that size or shape for what you're using it for.

Container was a little awkward to use and heavy when fully filled with water.
