Must Tweek Default Settings to Get Max benefit
10/28/2018 UPDATE: Found the below from the FAQs on their site. Need to change the "number of resets" and the "ping delay" (after reset) to get max use of this. Also, upping rating from 3 to 4 stars:FAQ QUESTION: "I set this up and am not sure about settings for N[umber] of Resets. If I want to continually reset until it comes online, should I set to unlimited? Also, when should I turn on the "reset only" button? Not clear. thx"The "N[umber] of Resets" is how many times the outlet will be reset after the device detects a loss of connection. As an example, let's say you have this set to 1x and after it resets, the connection still has not been re-established. The device will sit idly until the connection comes back on by itself. If you instead have it set to unlimited, it will continually reset until the connection is re-established. You would also want to refer to the Ping Delay setting as this is how long the device will wait AFTER a reset BEFORE it starts checking the connection again. This gives the equipment that is plugged into the outlet enough time to reboot and try to reconnect before it starts checking again. If you are plugging a modem or router into the outlet, that is typically the only time when you want the "Reset Only" setting ON.ORIGINAL REVIEW:The remote server that hosts the mobile app and the cloud4uis website regularly goes down and is unavailable. When this happens, the yellow light flashes. However, I don't think this really affects the device's ability reset the power outlet. Still evaluating.Doing manual tests (i.e., unplugging Ethernet cable) the device appears to reset if internet is out for 30 seconds. This seems to work when device can't reach it's remote server (blinking yellow light) as well.. However I had one instance where this was not the case. Still evaluating. Also would be helpful if there were some sort of log where we can see stats on resets.I hope to update this review as time pans out.

Good product.
a bit expensive, but it performs a needed task because switches, routers, and bridges are just too dumb! But, i am looking at the idea of using a wi-fi switch and a single board PC for my next two locations. This is a simple device that combines an internet switch (similar to WEMO) with a network monitor. The switch has built in timer functions for on, off, and reset times.A reset is a power down, a two second pause, and a power up.You can set the device to shut your network down at night & stay down, or you can just have it reset every day. Then the real value of this switch is that it monitors your network. It hits several pr-programmed web sites like google & yahoo;if it does not connect to them it will begin to suspect your network is down. There is a setting to indicate how many seconds your network is allowed to be down before the switch will reset it.This setting must be set long enough to allow your network to be restored completely - several seconds. When your network is down several seconds, it will reset the power on the plug.mine is connected to a surge suppressor powering my cable modem, router, VOIP box...I have powerd this switch from the small UPS that keeps my network up (for telephone purposes) in a power failure.Since it keeps your network operating, you can also use it remotely, although if you switch off your network, you will not be able to turn it back on -- no network :)Most of the complaints I see are by people who are using an inexpensive device, but want a much better device. I understand where they a coming from because it would take very little for the manufacturer to make a better device & support it better. However, for an average home user, I'm giving it the stars. Also, if you have a mission critical network, concerns about high security... consider a better solution.

Installation instructions unclear - won't reset on failed ping
The installation instructions were not very clear, but I was able to figure out how to get the appropriate applications installed on an iPhone. It works well to reset the power on my modem remotely (via the iPhone application). It does not reset on a failed ping (when set to auto mode). I confirmed from my command line that the ping was failing and confirmed in both the iPhone app and the Cloud website that it was set to auto-mode and the ping address was correct, but the device was not resetting.

Great solution for my random internet connectivity problems.
Great solution - I have had problems with my modem freezing up at random and although the wireless signal continues to work and all lights blinking as normal the internet signal is lost. I had my Internet provider reset from remote, upgrade firmware, and also provide a home visit to check wiring and install a new modem but continue to have this problem at random. In each case unplugging the power cord and then plugging back in to reset corrects the problem... until the next time. Sometimes it will go a couple of weeks fine and other times a freeze up every other day - just a mystery but frustrating since my security cameras rely on connectivity. This small device has an ethernet connection to your modem and consistently pings the internet to see if it is online. If not online it has a power outlet you plug the modem in and it automatically shuts down for a few seconds and then power up to reset the modem. Works Great! I unplugged the ethernet cable and within about 30 seconds it recycled my modem. I also unplugged to simulate a power outage and when plugged back in it also reset without a hitch. It also has software for custom settings of which I have it automatically reset my modem once a week in the early morning as I have also found that sometimes the speed starts to slow after a few weeks and recycling corrects that problem also. Now if there is a connectivity problem my security cameras are only down for about 4 minutes while it automatically detects and recycles for a connection. I know it's a work around and not correcting the true root cause of my Internet connection problems but at least this automated monitor/reset works for me and no more hearing from the kids and wife "The Internet is down again".
