Is this compatible with the Fishpond Summit Sling?

Yes, it’ll work on a Summit Sling. I don’t use it on my Summit Sling. I use it on my waterproof pack, but it has the capability.

Is this version 2.0? The picture is version 2.0, but the description says this is still the old, poorly designed, version of this rod holder.

This is the new version with the buckle rather than the magnet.

Can this be attached to the Fishpond Waterdance so that I can have a free hand for tying on a new fly?

While the Quickshot is designed to attach to various Fishpond packs, the Waterdance isn't one that it's natively compatible with. The waterdance is lacking the 4 way connection point that the upper part of the quickshot is designed to secure to. Technically the bottom part could be attached to the pack, but it may hot hold the rod like you're wanting.

May seem like a dumb question, but can this Be used with other styles of rods not just fly rods?

Very nice quality, doesn't work with all Fishpond gear so beware.

Works great!

Got this item for my last fishing trip and it works great! Once the rod is snapped in, it’s not going anywhere. This enabled me to carry my euro rod while fishing my regular rod moving through the stream

This does fit on the Summit 2.0

You have to have a use for it but this is compatible for the summit 2.0. I attach my halved rod to it when hiking. It’s not exactly easy to get to it on the bottom of the sling but it also stays out of the way when accessing your sling pockets when slung forward. Great way to pack in with a rod without having to tube/sock it and remove your reel.

Save me walking

The idea is ausome. Hold a rod while walking in to and from a vehicle. I slipped on rocks and dropped a rod(chipped the finish). You really need open hands while on a trail. The bad part is the lack of true attachment to a pack, sling, or belt. They need to design a fitting. Like a Chicago screw. In order to permanently attach this product. Its currently attacked to my backpack with zip ties. Will upload a picture if interest increase. You need to watch were you walk. Trees low structures and such. On the way back my car my hands are free to sip a cool beverage or check phone.
