Great close safe shave with a nice longer handle.
This has a longer handle than the 089 so it is much easier to hold and gives a safer grip. I tried both and the shave from each are to me a shave identical in smoothness using the Muhle blades. I followed the instructions using no pressure and letting the razor glide and do its work. because of the low per shave blade price I use the blade twice as I did with my Harry's blades. A fresh clean blade for a fresh clean close shave. I was a Harry's shaver and find this razor gives a closer shave with only one pass needed though Harry's is a super great blade but much more expensive and a much different type cartridge blade. Try it, if not to your liking use the Harry's blades which are also great.

Great Starter Razor
Multiple sources recommended the Muhle Companion Safety razor as an excellent starter razor when I was conducting my research to switch from a cartridge razor. Once you find the right angle, this razor is very forgiving when shaving. The razor does not eliminate nicks but does offer good protection. The razor assembles and disassembles easily and cleans up very quickly. The grip is excellent when your hands are wet and the loop works great to hang the razor when you re-lather. The design of this razor does require me to sometimes make a third pass to pick up all the hair. I was not a fan of the Muhle razor blades as they were not consistently sharp, my favorite blade currently is the Gillette Platinum.

Very efficient razor
This razor is awesome, it's very efficient but smooth the design is very nice, the only drawback for me was the handle, too long and a little slippery, but I liked the design of the head and the efficiency that I bought a Razorock bamboo handle and it looks and feels awesome, here's a picture of what it looks like with the new handle.

Slippery handle
Made nicely otherwise, but returned it.

Almost as good as…
They need to examine the width and shape of The Zomchi razor (here on Amazon). This razor’s head is almost like the Zomchi but it’s too wide on the edge shields. Copying the Zomchi design would make this razor a winner with Muhle’s great quality build. Also needs very heavy knurled handle. This one might as well be polished smooth. Could be a great razor.

Just read my review
I don't often wright reviews... A little back story, I've been shaving for over 50 years and have always done so with a muti-blade cartridge razor. I started with the Trac II and used various cartridge razors since. About 20 years ago I started shaving my head.Over the past couple of months I've been looking into "wet shaving" using a DE safety razor. When I read the description about MÜHLE Companion being designed for entry level as well as being suitable for head and body shaving I finally pulled the trigger.Since receiving the razor I have shaved my face four times and my head twice. The first shave I anticipated getting a couple of nicks/ cuts due to inexperience. What I did not count on was taking a 1/4 chunk of skin off the back of my head. I used my electric razor on my head for the next 10 days giving it a chance to heal before making another attempt. The second head shave went better but not great I have yet to get a nick free shave but I'm not giving up just yet. So far I can't say the quality shave is any better than what I was getting with a cartridge razor...One other thing, while this razor has a very good grip with dry hands, it is definitely slippery when wet!

This razor simply doesn’t work.
I bought this razor for the cord, I have space issues and for me that was it’s selling point. If you look at the image, the way the razor is designed - the lower part of the head has a bumper that goes so far out that only very small parts of the blade are available. On too of that, you can only use it one way. I ended up spending maybe 20 minute just trying to shave my underarms. I even tried changing the razors, but still no use. A serious waste of money for $50.
