The numbers cant be read without touching the top to turn on the back light. But once you do hit the button the back light stays on for 5 seconds. So you need to have it close to you. I only gave it 4 stars because I wanted one that displays the numbers at night all the time. So I bought a diferent clock. This one works just fine. Cute little cube.

I love this little guy. I have been on a quest for a SIMPLE to set alarm clock and this Plumeet Digital was #5. All its predecessors had 15-17 things it tracked and thus had 9 buttons on the back (wind speed, ocean temperature, landing schedule since I live near an airport, ozone layer hardiness, etc.) Not really but there was nonsensical stuff so I mined the children's offerings--BINGO. The snooze/light button on top of the clock is so handy. I also like the slide switch to turn on or off the alarm, the dainty size (travel alarm, anyone?) so I can keep it at the head of the mattress. Lastly, a great price makes this a winner.

The instructions made sense and was thus easy to set up. To stop the alarm, once it is beeping, you tap one of the 3 top buttons on the back, thus allowing the clock to reset for 24 hours. Of course, the snooze feature is on top of the clock as well, which I have not used to snooze. A push on this button when alarm isn't beeping, will temporarily backlight screen, for about 5 seconds. I have only used this clock for 3 days, but it has the perfect features for my purposes: to be set on a tray next to bed, to softly awaken me in middle of night. The silicon exterior keeps clock from sliding around as I position tray. The square shape prevents it from tipping over. The alarm is definitely on the quieter side, but I am a light sleeper, and place clock 2-3 feet from my head. I didn't want to wake the rest of the house with a loud alarm. So far, the clock has kept perfect time with my cell phone.

I love this little clock. It works perfect next to my sign in book for my daycare/ preschool business. They can easily see the date and time they are checking in. It has a couple different alarms on there too of you want. I like how it has a easy to push button to turn the backlight on if its still to dark to see.But I love the purple silicone in the medium square size shape. Its just perfect and the kids don't mess with it.

I'm not impressed by this clock. The first one I got didn't work at all. The second one was working fine until a few days ago. It still tells time, but the light doesn't work. Since I bought it specifically because it had the light, it's useless to me now. I've only had it 4 months. A very similar clock I bought for my daughter at the same time has worked perfectly since the beginning. This time I'll order another one of those.

For kindergartner’s first alarm clock. Needed digital (easy reading), loud to wake him, and function/durability. We purchased the black alarm & really loved the design, material & overall look. It was SUPER simple to pop in the batteries, set the time & alarm. Only reason we couldn’t give 5 stars and returned was because the alarm wasn’t loud enough to wake you. Both the pitch/sound & duration of the alarm being short didn’t serve the purpose for us! Otherwise, it would be an ACE of an option! Not needing an outlet was a convenient feature we really appreciated with a nice design option!

This little clock is great but I have knocked off one star because the numbers for the date have disappeared, you can see the day but not the month as this is not that important to me I decided to keep it. I love all the other features. The alarm is a nice little beep not too load and the backlight is great at night to aluminate the time. All in all it is a good clock.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I ordered a green and a purple. The display is extremely difficult to read and becomes faded when the backlight is on. I have to look from a top angle to get the time shown on the clock. Imagine you have to get up and look from a top angle during a late night to get the clock time? Simply unpractical. The purple is even worst, arrived defective. The backlight never works. Both are going back to Amazon.
