The shape of this bed grew out of the beautiful sycamore wood it's crafted out of. I bought the boards from a local mom and pop saw mill, who found the tree not far from where I live in southwestern New Mexico. These wild sycamores are beautiful trees; white bark speckled with brown, they grow arching over the small creaks running through the small canyons that crisscross the desert. This bed is one of a kind, inspired by the elegance of those beautiful trees. The bed frame is put together using traditional timber framing joints and is very strong and ridged. It's queen sized and is a platform bed, meaning that it's designed to be used without a box spring. There are 12 inches from the ground up to the bottom of the rails, and another 12 inches from the platform the mattress sits on to the bottom of the headboard, meaning that it will suite any mattress between 9 and 13 inches thick.
