Very good for improving finger strength. Just right for keeping fingers strong.

Arthritis paired with golf injury
I hurt my hand hitting balls on a mat before a golf round. I now know this is a course that has terrible mats.My hand hurt in the area below my thumb in palm and when I shook hands it was the worst. I've been using this, and everything is literally perfect now. I'm going to start using weights as my hand is stronger now then maybe before?

Not the best fit for kids
First of all, I have no complaints on the design and quality of this little device. It is well made and seems to be durable. The problem I have is it doesn’t specify sizing in the description. I bought it for my 3rd grader who needs to improve fine motor skills. It is too big and too rigid for her. She can’t hold it by one hand.

Nice easy tension for trumpet player's valve-like response to scales or for light rehab use.
I'm a once trumpet player getting back to it after maaaaany years. I noticed right away my finger dexterity was not good and wanted some way when I wasn't wanting to break out my trumpet to have a light but resistant enough exercise for my fingering hand. I stumbled on this and it is perfect tension level for me as a starter. I just brace front and back of it with my left hand and with right use thumb underneath to have solid grip to go through my scales. I'm sure great as a rehab tool for nice light conditioning of tender joints and weak finger muscles. Then go up if needed. Of course being portable and very compact it fits any kind of travel bag. Great fun as fidgeting toy too.

Great for flute players
I got this for my daughter who plays the flute in order to strengthen her fingers, she loves it and says it made a difference in her playing.

Pretty good for guitar playing
Bought this finger exerciser for guitar playing. Have been playing guitar on and off for about 20 years, and recently wanted to get my fingers back into shape.Had a hard time deciding between this product and the similar Gripmaster hand exerciser. Well to my surprise when I received this product I noticed the logo said: "Prohands by Gripmaster." So they are the same company. This product just has concealed springs whereas the Gripmaster product has a more "rugged" look with the exposed springs. This medium tension is listed at 6 pounds, which is right in between the Gripmaster Light (5 lbs) and Medium (7 lbs). I probably have a little than above average finger strength, due to my guitar playing. For me, (only in regards to finger exercises where the finger tip rests on the plunger) I can do 40-50 plunges with my index or middle finger no problem with no rest in between. Ring finger is a little hard, and pinky is hard. So for my intents (building up strength in my ring and pinky fingers) this product I think is the right tension.

Musicians....
For any musicians looking for something to work your fingerings for valved instruments.... This product probably works best for trumpet players, since their valves are physically kind of close together, like this product. However, as a tuba/euphonium player, I find these to be a little too close together to make a great kinesthetic relationship between the device and the instrument. Still works better than just your fingers, I suppose. I don't find myself using this product a lot, and when I do, it's more for just general finger exercise than for a 'valve emulator'Other than that, it's a very solid product, and I enjoy using it when I do.
