First experienced using the Aerobika, while working with patients as an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner in Critical Care. I've since become medically retired due to contracting C-19. As a result, my lungs have become severely compromised and damaged. I now live with Bronchiectasis. Think of Bronchiectasis like this: our airways are like roads. When a pothole, in the road, occurs; it fills in with rain...in our case: mucous. Without proper pulmonary hygiene, the mucous builds up and eventually leads to infection, mucous plugging or both. If you've never used an oscillatory PEP device, then you made the right choice in ordering this one. An oscillatory PEP device has a mechanism built within that when air pressure is forced against it; it begins to go back and forth. Thus, creating the flutter sound. This sound then travels down into the lungs where mucous, that was difficult to expectorate, will begin to shake loose from the airways. Most patients are able to expectorate the mucous/phlegm within a few coughs. This is only a basic overview of an oscillatory positive expiratory device.Pros: Pressure is adjustable from 1-5 where 1 is for those who lack the strength to blow forcefully and 5 is for those who have their strength. I was introduced to this product by a respiratory therapist when I was a hospital inpatient recovering from surgery. He gave me an Aerobika unit to try. It works great and works to build lung strengthat the same time. Resistance is adjustable unlike some of the other brands on the market.

Better than the pear shaped flutter valve I have as this on can be used while doing a Nebulizer & this is more effective for loosening & expectorating the mucous from my airways

The instructions were easy to follow. I particularly liked the fact that no special sterilization was required as in another product that I've purchased. I've just begun using this device so the jury is still out on its effectiveness. However, this is the product recommended by my pulmonologist so I'll take his word for it.

If you have asthma you need this product. Easy to use Highly recommend it!

I have not been vigilant about using this unit daily but when I have used it, it does seem to loosen phlegm so I can cough it out. Because I have not been vigilant about using it, I have not seen an improvement in breathing but I believe I would see an improvement if I used it daily.
