but a great tool for practice
The diameter of the ball was significantly larger than expected. Wouldn't use for high quality competitions, but a great tool for practice.I had issues when ordering this about receiving a hammer that was not pictured. Instead of blue it came a bright orange-red, with a pointless thin draw string bad that is placed over the ball.Still made size and weight requirements at meets.

quality hammers
I like Amazon track and field implement so much that I recently purchased a 2,3,4,5,6 KG hammer and shot put. A 1.5, 1.0, and .75 KG discus. A 700,600,500, and 400 gram javelins. They were all donated to WIU for their USATF governed Senior Olympics and are great.

Great hammer for short term or low volume use.
Ordered these in various weights for training. Excellent hammer for the price you pay. I was actually surprised they were real when they arrived. However, after long term use, you finally get what you pay for. The swivels began to wear down to the point of severe friction and even parts of the hammer ball started to chip away. Although I must say, most of them have been used almost everyday for several months or even more than a year at this point. In summary, I would certainly recommend these for lower volume throwing or for a weight that doesn't get thrown too often. Otherwise I would look elsewhere if you're looking for a hammer with smooth throwing longevity.

Good Training hammer to gain strength
Good Training hammer to gain strength. If you are going to into heavy phase of training (during fall/winter/spring), this is the hammer to work with. Also a 20lb hammer is very rare, thus it will grab attention during the meets :-)

Hammer Good, Wire Bad.
I ordered a hammer from these guys a month or two ago. It came quickly and with everything it needed. The handle and wire are not the highest quality, but you can't beat the price for what is a fully functional metal ball.So I just bought another two hammers. One arrived the other day; the second has yet to come. My problem is that the wire on the hammer that just arrived is the wrong length. To get the thing to regulation, it needs a 38 inch wire; but the one that was sent is just 36 inches.I wrote to the Amazon service people to ask that the company send me the right wire as a replacement. Amazon, though, asked me to send the entire hammer back to Amber. I clearly am not going to do that. It would not be expensive to send me the proper wire for free, and the trouble and money needed to ship the whole implement back would for me be substantial. The postage, after all, would have to be a big fraction of the actual price. So be careful with this company. The hammer is good and the price is excellent. But they really should get the wire lengths right. It may still be worth buying the hammer and just getting the right wire separately, but it should be easy enough for them to ensure that the correct wires go with their various hammers.

Smooth Swivel
My 14lb ball felt pretty smooth and nice swivel. The diameter for it was like 110-115. Highly recommend these for training.

Good practice implement
Handle is fine; ball is fine. Good for practice. Wrap the wires well or they will unwrap after a dozen throws or so. Good value but I wonder about the integrity of the wire. Time will tell.
