American Bulldogs: The Complete Owners Guide

If you have ever admired an AB and wanted one, read this book first ! As an AB owner for 13 years, I can say I was not adequately prepared for the challenge of owning this fantastic dog. My wife's saying, after the third day of ownership was, "I have made a terrible mistake!" Not really, but we had to learn the hard way that this breed requires a strong pack leader and much socialization to be a good family pet. This book would have prepared us better for the task of becoming that strong pack leader. The author provides much insight into the instincts of the AB and willingness to please his master when properly trained. Not a comprehensive encyclopedia, but rather a primer for those interested in the AB. It will either whet your appetite for more info or show you that the AB is not for you. Either way, it's a valuable resource with some great pics.

Was a little bit disappointed with the content especially since I also ordered The UK American Bulldog book on the same night. My other order arrived prior to this order and was a very good book...Very Good information! Pleased with the shipment lead time. If you are wanting to learn MORE about your AB then there are better books. Will probably finish reading it and then re-sale it here on Amazon!

This was a heavily generic and stereotypical dog book. You could have substituted any dog breed name every time the words "American Bulldog" appeared. I feel like in the areas that the author tried to be more breed specific that they cast unfair stereotypes of the breed such as mentioning that you should choose a male over female because male American Bulldogs are way more aggressive and that you shouldn't have cats. Each breed may have its different quirks but for the most part understanding how to raise raise your dog should be assessed on a case by case basis. I don't recommend this book.

It gives you good info for new owners of the American Bulldog.

WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE OURS AND THIS BOOK WAS SPOT ON MANY IF NOT ALL POINTS!WE ARE LUCKY OUR BOY HAS A MOM AND DAD AS MY HUSBAND HAS POSTITIONED HIMSELF AS THE ALPHA AND UNFORTUNATELY IM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PACK, LOL,.BUT IT MAKES UP WITH AN UNWAVERING FIERCE LOYALTY AND PROTECTIVENESS for ME.....HE LOVES US AS MUCH AS WE.LOVE HIM!!!

Great book. I refer to it often. A good learning tool for me and my new puppy (she's one year old now and weights 90lbs.....)

I bought this and was afraid of even showing it to my husband for it is pretty negative and makes you scared of this breed. Not recommended.

great book lots of facts and insights into the breed. I found that the author put the breed down abit forba lover of the breed. Still a good read though.

If, like me, you own or are thinking of owning an American Bulldog this book is a must. Urge anyone to read it before buying a puppy of this breed.

This book is an easy ready and to the point with lots of info and tips, a great book for beginners.
