Solsop RJ45 Crimp Tool Pass Through Cat5 Cat5e Cat6 Crimping Tool for RJ45/RJ12 Regular and End-Pass-Through connectors

I purchased this crimp tool so I could wire up my friends house with CAT 6 cable. It works flawlessly; it cuts ends, removes the cable jacket, and crimps perfectly. The only thing I could find wrong with it is that it is hard to insert the wires past the clipper slot where the connector is crimped, but a excellent tool.

I bought this because I wanted to have one that trim off cable ends in pass-through connectors. I was very disappointed when I tried my first connector. The blade that cuts off the leads does not sit flush to the front of the connector resulting that there is 0.5-1mm cabe sticking out. This make it so that the plug touch the end of the female RJ45 connector and the clip does not really snap. Another thing is that the blade that trim off the leads goes 1mm into the plastic edge right beneath where the leads go out from the connector. This make a piece of plastic bend out from the connector which just makes the above mentioned problem worse. A third problem is that the strip blade goes too far into the cable, damaging the leads. I have made hundreds of crimps with my old Knipex brand crimper, that never failed unless I screwed up and accidentally put the leads in the wrong position. When I did my first crimp with this one, it did not work. I checked with a cable tester and lead #3 was not connected properly. I re-crimped with my old one and it worked immediatley first time, like usual. I rather keep the old one and trim off the leads with a fine electronics wire cutter. I use quality brand connectors so they are following the standardized dimensions on this type of connector, so it is not the connectors that are out of standard.

It was slightly too high on one side, which tended to nick the insulation of the individual wires on that side. The design uses two screws for that blade to allow adjusting it to be parallel with the upper blade. The blade guard was removed, loosened the two screws holding the bottom blade, adjusted the blade, tightened the blade screws, and replaced the blade guard. The upper blade for cutting and stripping is also secured with two screws to allow adjusting it as well. This blade needed no adjustment. I am very pleased with this purchase. A well-made, comprehensive tool that works well and will last.
