This Is My Spirit Iron!
Review for Proctor-Silex Classic 1200 Watt iron # 17075 This sweet iron has found its forever home! I love the shape of this iron. I have been avoiding replacing my Proctor-Silex model 1903LA (from 1974, yes, you read that right: from the year 1974). The old iron is perfect, and I wouldn't replace it except for the wiring becoming questionable. So, I had to begin looking. This iron's shape is the easiest for me to work with. I don't do my best work with irons that have a steep dropped front shaped like the droopy nosecone of a Concorde SST jet. I've tried those, and the answer is 'no'. But here, with the 17075, is a shape which is much easier for me to use. And, for me, one of the biggest pluses is that there is not a large 4" overhang of chassis jutting out beyond the hind end of the soleplate. I like to know where the soleplate ends, and I can't gauge that when there's 4" of extra business hanging over and obscuring my view. Other reviewers have addressed the steam function of this iron, and they seem happy with that aspect of it. I don't put water into any iron, so I can't speak about that part. I use a small plastic spray bottle from the grocery store to mist clothing when needed, and I use a pressing cloth for fragile materials. Another plus about this iron is the 8' cord. Love that. Also the seven temperature settings offer whatever I might need in the way of variety for different materials. So far, I've ironed a 100% cotton top, a delicate viscose top, a cotton-poly blend, some silk scarves (touch up), and shown a heavy denim apron who is boss! No complaints, all pluses for this Proctor-Silex #17075. BTW, I have not been compensated or rewarded or benefitted in any way for my review. I'm turned off by products which give a 'consideration' to reviewers.

Just yes
Update: Bought this one year ago and still love this iron!! ——— Original: I bought the Black and Decker first - that’s a no This one- a yes I sew regularly and pressing is a huge part the processes when making clothes. -It has a nice weight to it. -The water cap is great. -Extra steam button is *chefs kiss* -The ‘min’ setting is basically an off switch. I think it turns it off - or so low that it’s not really hot enough to burn anything. I haven’t tested that too much because I just try to get in the habit of unplugging when I’m not using it - it does actually have an auto off it seems! - I think it takes an hour or so of inactivity then it will turn off the heat and the red light will blink I wanted one with auto off because I didn’t want there to be any risk but the black and decker auto off future was so annoying that it made me realize I didn’t want that anymore. It’s nice that this one does shut off at some point just in case but it’s not like every minute (or whatever) of inactivity. It runs smoothly across the fabric too!

Amazing
I love this iron heat up fast got wrinkles on the first trying it out, after trying 3 times with my $200 iron. I did use Best Press ever time also. I love the little heavier weight for removing wrinkles and flattens out my quilt blocks and seams nicely. I am so happy with the quality. Someone mention the dial being loose after moving to the blue hotter settings and hard to spot when move into the blue hotter area. I think that is on preposes you know you are in the hot settings and steam area. I would to know if that is why. But that doesn't detract the uses of the iron for me.

Straight forward Good iron
This iron get hot fast, removes wrinkles instantly.don’t need to constantly run over the same area to smooth out like other iron. I love the retro look . Oh and the cord length is generous. This iron does what it’s supposed to. No gimmicks . I just dont like that I was clearly sent a returned/used iron I know this from looking at the plate and the box was retaped . Besides that great iron .

this is the absolute best
this is the best iron I have ever had and I'm seventy years young and have ironed since I was 10 years old..the best..no need to look further.....I only wish I had this many years ago instead of going back and forth trying to get wrinkles out on more expensive irons..You could get vertigo focusing going back and forth as many times as I've had to trying to get wrinkles out (lol)..this heats up quickly, and when not in use, shuts off..love, love this iron..instead of dreading ironing which would take me hours to do because of repetitive motion trying to get wrinkles out, it gets the job done..not only that, the speeds clearly state which one to use for what fabric. I would iron, and then place on a rack, next day put away, that's when I would notice how awful everything would look......no more..this iron is the best ..I know this is my forever iron..plus it looks like the one my mom use to have..you're going to enjoy ironing..also I forgot to mention a pet peeve..on a shirt, for the collars. where the corner meets the button, and you can never get in there..you can with this one..

Love this iron!
I know. Who gets excited about an iron? Well, I went from a nasty old cheap one to this Proctor Silex, and I’m wondering why I didn’t make the switch years ago! This iron is small enough to store easily, but still heavy enough to use for sewing projects. Its steam function is great, and the cord is long enough that I don’t worry about which side of the ironing board the plug is on. It has a nice vintage look, and heats up quickly. Very happy with it!

Nice Iron
I'm not one who likes to iron so I put it off til there's a pile and my husband says he needs his shirts! Our last iron somehow got damaged and started leaking so I started reading reviews on irons. The Proctor had good reviews even over my old iron. When one reviewer said she uses it for a living and this is the only one she uses, I thought...who better to go by! I'm glad I did. I whipped right thru that pile of wrinkles! It works great, didn't leak, heats great. I'm very happy with it.

Got this iron Aug 30th 2021 , and it's now got a blinking light THST means something is wrong with it and I only use filtered water and I use it for quilting and now it's broken and I can't use it. Very disappointed
