My mom has a 21 inch calf and needs to sit down to put compression stockings on.  Do you think this will work for her?

I'm going to try to answer each and every one of these questions in one statement.
           The people that have a large calf, I myself have a large left leg calf. In my case I have to use two different size compression stockings. 1st.you should check the size of your compression stockings to make sure they are proper size. If you as myself have two different sizes, you’ll have to get two different size compression stockings, one for the left and 1 for the right.
when you put your stocking on the Donner, the toe part of the stocking, do not go all the way down,
Just go a few inches, (a lot of this is trial and error, but don't give up) now the part of the stocking that is on the outside of the donner,  bringing it up to the top as far as possible, without the socking going back inside of the Donner. When you put your foot into the stocking, on the Donna, just go up to ankle, then slip the stocking off the donner,  then grab the rest the stocking letting it slip out of your fingers as you pull it up.
          When it comes to compression stockings that comes all the way up to the tight, that's going to take a little more practice. Sometimes if you have a real hard time pulling it up over your leg? Try putting a little cornstarch powder on your leg first.
It will make it slip up easier. Rest assured; with practice you will succeed. But you must keep trying.
 You will be rewarded with the use of a compression stocking, less pain, more walking ability,
and it's successful feeling of accomplishment. Is that many things left in life that will give you that feeling.
   He's a little personal note on my part. If you buy stockings on Amazon? You keep trying until you get the right combination. The great thing about Amazon; easy returns. My belief, if I buy the lesser expensive stockings, I found they do the same job as the much more expensive ones. Also it gives me the opportunity of changing them, whenever I feel like it. It's very important that you check the length of the knee high stockings. Remember, you want them to come all the way up to your knee just below it.

How many inches across does the opening measure where you put the stocking on and also what this the height from bottom to top of handles?

The horseshoe-shaped part is 5 1/2" across at the top, and the whole apparatus stands 18" tall (It slants back, so the overall length is a bit over 18").

Question 3

Would this work for someone with a 24" calf?

I don't think so. The opening is only 6'' wide. My calf is 17.5'' and I have plenty of room, but I think 24'' may be difficult. Sorry. Good luck.

I have a 23 inch calf will my leg fit in the donner?

My calf is 18" and there is room to spare. It is a half- circle, so your leg really doesn't go into it, so to speak. I love this thing- putting on my compression thigh highs is no longer a ten minute ordeal every morning!  Good luck, my friend!
