Can it slice peaches?

A peach pit is usually wider than the core cutter, so unless it's a type of peach with very small pits (are there any), it wouldn't work.

How many inches in diameter is the cutting area?

The blade insert measures approx. 3 & 3/4 to just short of 4 inches across.

I have the slicer, is the base available separately?

make sure it's the same slicer with this many segments and the arrows. I would check the website or email them directly ... lots of times you can get pieces and parts that way.

Can this slice onions?

It is made for apples. It has a built in core-er. I haven't tried it on an onion. It would make wedge shaped slices and a cylinder if you could do it.
