Rollercoaster of Emotions
this book is in three parts, Charlie and Asher meet when she moves to town when she is 11 and he fights off a bully. Their friendship is sweet and endearing, and as they grow up they fall in love with each other. The next part of their story is college things happen and a big misunderstanding drives them apart. Charlie kind of fades into herself a shell of a girl and Asher follows his dreams while lost without Charlie. The last part of the book is a decade later when Charlie is called home. She has pretty much been hiding from everyone who loves her since college. Asher is still lost without her but he still loves her. This one was the emotional rollercoaster ride of the week. I was happy, sad, pissed off (almost threw my ipad) heartbroken, angry, confused and I would have liked a little more epilogue to make me feel complete in the story.

Loved Asher
4.5 stars. I love second chance novels so the storyline grabbed my attention. Charlie and Asher met when they were in elementary school and from there, a strong friendship blossomed into more throughout high school and then college. Asher was the sort of guy that only had eyes for Charlie and she meant everything to him. He did whatever he could to be the kind of boyfriend that took care of his girlfriend and to let her know she was the most important person to him. It was not hard to love Asher. Charlie was a great heroine for the most part, she was reflective, had a good heart and was completely devoted to Asher, but sometimes she came off a little bland. Their dynamic was very soul-level with intense chemistry and they had a longstanding friendship and history to back it up. As life happens, stressful and unwanted circumstances occur leading to situations that push people into re-evaluating themselves and Asher and Charlie have a fall out. It was awful, I really felt the enormity of the pain because up until that point, they were so solid. I was incredibly disappointed with Asher by that point and my heart went out to Charlie. She couldn't cope with the reminders so she leaves for good and she and Asher have no contact again until at least another 12-13 years later due to a situation that puts them in the same town. From there, Asher's POV comes into play and there's no doubt that he still thinks about Charlie and wants her back in his life in any capacity possible. Charlie has been through a lot emotionally and she's barely hanging on by a thread as it is. She's not the same person as before, both broken and lost. The last third of the book was my least favorite and although everything happened like it should or how I would have wanted it to because Asher was redeeming himself, Charlie was beginning to disappoint me with her coping mechanisms and constant escaping. I know she really needed to figure herself out because she pretty much let the last decade go to waste and she wasn't doing anyone a favor by not maturing, but still, I thought she was rather late to the game considering how Asher has always been the one to push her forward and make her confront her issues and he owned up to his end of the tragedy. Charlie held herself accountable, too, but I would have liked to have seen her not be so childish at that age. I enjoyed reading this because of Asher, Charlie was definitely flawed and by the end, I was simply glad to see her make the necessary strides to move foward but I found myself become more detached to her and the story progressed.

Hmph...2.5
The Space Between us...well there were times I thought I was in space. This was just O.K., and not a "solid ok". I liked the concept but it fell a bit short. It started slow, picked up in the middle, and then fell flat to me.What I didn't like: **spoilers**1) The author can't write stories that involve teenagers or young kids. Some of the thoughts and dialogue were just so not real. 13 year olds don't say "Engage in conversation" or "That's cryptic". Their voice was very adult and while there are some young teens who talk like young adults, that is not the norm. I wanted to stop reading because it threw me off whenever I read something that was better suited for a young adult.2) It was disjointed. At times the flow seemed poetic, and others abrupt and without direction. At one point in Part I they went from 5th grade to high school...just like that with no real segue way. I found myself thinking "Well alrighty then, here is the next phase."3) The whole separation and reason started good and made sense, and then somewhere fell off. One day she told him, then he acted completely out of character in reaction (I get it), but not soon after he felt bad, yet he didn't speak with her again because he was ashamed? Huh? So you spend 13 years throwing yourself a pity party?4) BIG SPOILER: And why in the world did he think he could be upset or offended that she told her boyfriend he was dead? And then had the gall to leave! Dude you are dead to me, period, the end. Whatcha want me to say? You don't get to be mad...

Would give more than 5 stars if I could!!!
OMG!! This book is a work of art!! I just finished reading it, and am reeling from all the emotions I went through. This is the most beautiful story of two soul mates, Charlie and Asher, who were simply meant to be. The story starts when they are kids and moves on until it gets to the present, during which time you get drown into the soulful lives of these two characters. Anie Michaels is an artist portraying their insecurities as kids, their first explorations as teenagers, their inexplicable changes, but most of all the unconditional and breathtaking love they share ever since their childhood.Have your tissues ready for the second half of the book, you'll need them. You will cry ugly tears but also happy ones. Part III of the book is a whirlwind of emotions you can't control, I cried so bad. For me, the best part of the whole book. Just when you thought things were going to go smooth then something else happens that turns you upside down, OMG, simply amazing! And have I mentioned that I have a new book boyfriend and his name is Asher Carmichael?? He's the most swoonworthy, beautiful, sweet man on the planet!I've read all books by Anie Michaels and won't miss a single one if it's written by her. She really knows how to write a sweet story and drags you into it, bringing out very profound emotions during the whole process. There was not one single line that I felt unnecessary, the writing was brilliant, flawless, every word holding so much meaning. I would recommend this book to everyone, please don't wait anymore and go click on it!!!!

True love at it's best
Another brilliant book by Anie Michaels....she has very quickly become one of my favourite authors. Now generally speaking I am not as fond of books that start in childhood and continue on as I. Much prefer to read about the present...however this was very necessary for us to understand the connection of Charlie & Asher from that point, it was also divided into 3 parts which I very much liked. Now Charlie & Asher had a love like no other...a strong bond...a connection of heart and mind but one moment in time severed that completely leading to the destruction of a pure love and leaving devastation for them and us the reader. It was heartbreaking to read and to feel...and I felt every last bit...but what happens when they meet again?Read it....find out...I was pleased that Charlie stood her ground and equally pleased there was no tooing or froing for the whole book! She was a great character and not afraid to accept when she was wrong. Asher...totally hot...totally sweet and a beautiful soul who simply made a mistake and lost his whole reason for living but he was determined to make up for his error in judgement...whatever it tookSo once again an amazing read and I cannot wait to see what she brings out next

Precious story. Easy five stars.
Aw this was one of those books where you just wanted them to make it from day one, and when all that inbetween icky painful stuff happened, it hurt. As a reader I love all that icky stuff. Frustrating, but necessary or books would be very short. This book was precious. The author delivered a beautiful love story, with childhood friendship, cute teen love, growing young adult love, then the angst, then........Please read. It's just a lovely lovely story and I promise you you'll love it. Beautifully written, and I want a park like theirs near me so I can stand on a bridge and wait for my guy.I've no problem recommending and hope you enjoy it as much as I.

An inspiring love story
Anie Micheals created a love that you would not forget for a long time. Charlie and Asher were characters that i loved from the start and were rooting for throughout the whole novel. They had a love that was perfect and something all of us dream of. All us girls dream of having an Asher.I loved her style of writing, it brought forth so many emotions and i was unable to put this book down. I don't want to give out any spoilers so i will just say that it truly was an amazing book and i would definitely recommend it. I can't wait to read more from this talented author.

I'm afraid to say I actively disliked this story and the way it was crafted
I'm afraid to say I actively disliked this story and the way it was crafted. The central characters are shallow, unsympathetic arrogant even and it wasn't even 'a happy ending' in my opinion though it tried to be. Was this author really holding up the possessive and aggressive traits of the male character, and the easily manipulated nature of the female character as desirable? It certainly wasn't deep enough to allow me any other conclusion.

Emotional Heartbreaking Story
Well what a roller coaster. I liked the story with a heartbreaking plot. I would have liked Part 1 to have had a better conclusion. It ended too abruptly and I would have liked an epilogue. Again it ended but I feel it could have been wrapped up better although a HEA I just felt it seemed rushed. It was a shame as the story was very well written with a well thought out story line. I would still recommend it though as it was a quality story
