Zoo Med Creatures Humane Live Insect Catcher

When I tell you my skin crawls when dealing with bugs, I'm not exaggerating. However this tool is so simple and easy to use (like turning a flashlight on and off) that I have managed to catch and release spiders, stink bugs, and wasps (yes! Even wasps!) with ease. Highly recommend, even for the squeamish.

Had one exactly the same but dark green about 15 years ago. Lasted very long time until the sliding plastic piece started missing its rail. Been looking for the same kind ever since & finally found this one. Caught a giant spider in my bathroom the same night I received the catcher. The spider was really fast but the item is very easy to handle & I caught it quickly. Then after a heart pounding bit of photography, I took the trapped spider outside across the street for an easy, bug juice & squash free release. I hate killing bugs in the house because the cleanup can be as stressful to me as the presence of the bug as well.

It works well to catch the bugs. My only complaint is that its awkward in corners when the bugs are on the run.But I have successfully caught spiders and crickets and releasedthem outside. Now if the cat would quit bringing them in I mightnot need to use it as often.

I bought this tool because it was the same design as a different brand I had that broke after many years of use. I use this little gadget to remove bugs, spiders, flies, wasps, etc. that get into my house. I hate squishing them or using chemical sprays and this enables me to catch them and put them outside. It is easy to use and has a slide door that you can open and then put the cup part over the bug, trapping it and slide the door closed without harming the bug. My grandchildren love catching bugs with it. It helped get them over their fear of bugs because I could catch them and with the clear compartment we could safely watch them without getting stung. It also would be perfect for reptile owners that like to catch bugs to feed to their pets. I think that is probably the intended use, but works for mine, too. I have one in my camper and use it every time I go camping on the flies and mosquitos that sneak in!

I am able to get the bugs and taken them outside just in case I get a beneficial insect. If not, I let the spiders take care of them. The problem is that with clear little plastic trap door/closure it is difficult to see if I got the insect inside. I used a sharpie to trace a line at the end of the plastic trap to see that it is catching the insect.
