One of my Favorite web novels
This originally started out as a web novel that ended too soon. Eventually that web novel got a reboot, then this light novel adaption came to be. I am so happy I am finally able to start collecting the Light novel and soon the manga as well.No matter how many times I read this story, in its various formats, By the Grace of the Gods never fails to make me smile. I hope one day it gets a proper anime adaption that isn't a gimmick to sell more novels. It deserves many seasons.I highly recommend this series to anyone who likes a soft, light hearted Isekai that's more world building and slice of life than anything else.

It put a smile on my face
First off I like to stress one of the primary criteria that I give something a 5 star is that I need to lose myself into reading without having any regard to time and place. This book certainly did that.It is your typical Isekai story, some unfortunate modern day salaryman just one day ups and dies (or in this case stays down and dies?) and is transported to meet some "gods" who are pretty chill (I would love to meet them on my passing). Some typical background + super powers talk, all standard stuff.Doesn't seem amazing right? Well I have to say that what makes the story great to read isn't that the MC is OP (kinda is?), but it's his interactions with the people around him (very loving people) and (not kidding) his passion to slimes. Just listening to the details on slimes made me want to tame a slime if I could. While the majority of the story is bright and positive, there are glimpses into the MC's previous upbringing that casts a shadow over the happy events, but that is what makes the new experience that our MC goes through that much more powerful and relatable.TBH Why am I still writing this, I am buying the next book and moving on. I will be back!

☀️A Nice, Relaxing, Peaceful Light Novel. ☁️
Man, sometimes you just want to step away from it all. All the violence and bloodshed, and just enjoy a relaxing, slice-of-life book. Well review readers, “By the Grace of the Gods” is that book. Not to go into spoilers, but like I’m trying to say is that nothing really tragic happens in this story. If anything, the only tragic part is the bit of the main character’s past we learn at the end (a little spoiler, my apologies 😖). Roy brings us a isekai light novel, that’s focuses more on the important things in life: friendship, loyalty, perseverance, family, and hope. If none of this things sparks an interest in you, then I wouldn’t recommend reading this story. If however, you ARE interested in those kind of subjects, then I recommend reading Roy’s light novel. Overall, great book. Loved the change of pace of things, and love the morals of the story and the characters.😌Final Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A nice story
This is a pleasant story about a middle aged guy reincarnated as an 8 year old kid in another world. He is overpowered, has the good fortune to become involved with a kind family that is rich and powerful and all of his challenges are too easy. The author saves the hard luck 'rl' stories until the end of the book which brought the mood down and in my opinion were just more of the overworked and abused Japanese social commentary that should have been left out from my western perspective, but given the frequency they appear in light novels probably have their place for the original intended audience. 4 stars because this was a pleasant light and relaxing read overall.

More adult themed than the anime
I got interested in reading this series, of course, after seeing the anime. The anime was a good isekai slice of life fantasy about a man who had an ignoble death: he died in his sleep while sneezing. He then meets up with three gods that offer to transport him to a new world and to give him the usual magic abilities isekai protagonists receive. Through the story, we discover how, in his former life, he was severely mistreated by his father. It was like the god of bad luck had cursed him on this planet. The dark side of the story that the anime barely even hinted at: overworked, alone after his mother died, and how he studied martial arts. It's an interesting read, and I look forward to getting volume 2.

Typical Isekai
I purchased this by mistake, but didn't bother to refund it.It is a very unremarkable isekai story: Complete with meeting The Gods, dying from being overworked in a typically out-of-touch Japanese society, MMORPG Skills that level up with numeric ranks, and reincarnation. I should also mention our overly diligent and fantastically deadpan and dull protagonist loves to do things that are considered "remarkable" by the denizens of the world he is transported to: whether it involves raising slimes, casting magic or preventing epidemics, a precocious kid can astound them. He can just do it all.The story is incredibly tired and lame. Very little actually *happens*. The world is not fleshed out very much even. There is little drama or intrigue resulting from our precocious protagonist. There are no stakes. Everything proceeds as our protagonist largely expects. Nothing is challenging or interesting. If you really like power fantasies, this might eventually develop into something that you like, but I suspect you will actually be very bored reading this first volume.

Great read
This story is not your typical, 'In another world' adventure. I think that's why I like it so much. It's a light fantasy, slice of life read about decent, kind people. This may sound boring to some, and in all fairness it may be for some readers (you know who you are). However, the characters are well done, the world is well though out and it's a nice, fun, and heart warming read. If you're on the fence, it's definitely worth taking a chance on.

Graceful Read
By the Grace of the Gods, also known by the original Japanese title The Man Picked Up By the Gods, is a faithful adaptation of the original source material into a light novel format.A gentle and slow paced story, crafted around the life of someone with extreme temperance being told to enjoy themselves. They don't go out on some grand adventure, or wow the world with modern knowledge, but instead just enjoy the ups and downs of their hobbies and whims. There's only one issue with it, it's a literal compilation of the web novel chapters with a dash of editing thrown in. Unlike most web novels that get light novel releases, there's almost no critical adjustments made to pacing or structure. There's no feeling of conflict or resolution during the story because there's no sense of climax, while this doesn't detract from the novel itself, it's just a fair warning.

Bit boring
I read the manga and to be honest you could read everything in the manga, there is no differences, no extras it’s just a straight 1 to 1. What annoys me about it however is I honesty want it to be a lot better.
