This is an informative book meant for youth
Although meant for youth, Brynn Baker packed a lot of useful information into this slim book.

I have mixed feeing about this book.
In the back it asks the question, " Look at the timeline starting with the formation of the Buffalo Soldiers regiments in 1866 and ending with the dedication of the monument honoring the soldiers service in 1992. What does this say about the effect the Buffalo Soldiers had on the United States? "Well, since the World War II monument was not dedicated until 2004, I'm not sure what they are fishing for an answer. I feel like this book did an pretty good job at celebrating these amazing men, yet cast a shadow on them by using this book also to try to drive a farther wedge into racial tensions being felt in America. FYI it claims to be "common core".
