Great writer, mostly very good short stories !

excellent book by an excellent author. I wish I had time to read every single book that he has written!!!

Just be aware if you've got or read Dream Lover by William Boyd these stories are all in there.

I'm a Boyd fan, but these short stories didn't really push my buttons. Just an 'OK' from me.

William Boyd writes as if he were trying to emulate Somerset Maugham, F Scott Fitzgerald, and Terry Pratchett - simultaneously ....... and failing in all of them!His stories are confusing ..... often unfathomable .... and seldom hold the reader's interest through to the ending!

I just could not manage to finish the story; it seemed hopeless dribble. I have thoroughly enjoyed William Boyd books and am surprised that I could not fathom this short story.
