A Coloring book trip back to the 90's – printed on one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. My kids were growing up in the 90's and we watched their television shows together. After homework and chores were done, they each got to choose a show to watch and it was pretty much always a show on Nickelodeon. Seeing “The Splat” coloring book show up was a trip down memory lane for me. Almost all of our favorites are in the book including: Real Monsters, Angry Beavers, CatDog, Hey Arnold, Ren and Stimpy, Rocket Power, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, and the Wild Thornberrys. The book includes 47 designs. There seems to have been a team of illustrators as there are several styles. Some of the designs have thicker lines and a more open feel while others have thin lines and are considerably more detailed. I like all of the various styles and levels of detail as it makes the book that much more fun to color. This is what I experienced while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring mediums. I will list the coloring mediums I used for testing in the comments section below. These are also the materials I use for most of my coloring.47 Designs based on Nickelodeon cartoon series from the 1990'sPrinted on one side of the page with a quote on the back of the pagePaper is heavyweight, white, slightly rough, non-perforatedGlue BoundMost designs merge into the binding areaBook opens fairly flat for coloring by breaking or creasing the spine heavily.Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper. I suggest using a blotter page of card stock or several sheets of paper to keep ink from seeping through to the pages below.Water-based markers, gel pens, and India ink pens do not bleed through the paper.Colored pencils work very well with this paper. I got great pigment from oil and wax base pencils. I was able to layer the same color for deeper pigment, layer multiple colors, and blend easily using a pencil style stick blender.

100% Worth It!
I absolutely love it! Just got it into the mail today and the book was nice and crisp, the book is put together very well, the pages are perfect so you can use markers fine on them, I’m not sure about permanent. But I do suggest just Incase to put an extra paper underneath the photo you are coloring just Incase you have strong colored markers. The details bring back lots of memories of when I was a child! Great book to dive into your childhood and remember all of it💛-it is an original Nickelodeon book so it’s not an unofficial one and the prints looks amazing!-if you see the prices are more expensive on the back so what you get it for is actually a great deal! 100% worth it🧡Don’t waste your time trying to figure out if it’s not good enough, your kids will love it and I’m sure you will love it!Also there is easy pages to color and some medium and then there’s the category of “adult coloring book” pages in there whiche mean that they are a little crazy lol. But a really fun book to have!

Great quality and fun nostalgia
I was kind of expecting this coloring book to be relying on the 90's Nick nostalgia for sales. Don't get me wrong, I was fine with that because I can appreciate higher quality and lower quality coloring books alike. For background info I like to have high quality coloring books to color with alcohol markers (which bleed a lot and don't blend well on thinner paper. I also have plenty of less expensive coloring books that I use with colored pencils. This wasn't a cheap coloring book, I mean you can buy coloring books at the dollar store, but it's also not expensive. For more context, high end coloring books that work well with alcohol markers are often in the $15-$20 range and that's without any branding. With this book I assumed you were paying for the Nick name.I was pleasantly surprised when this book arrived with nice, thick, one sided pages. It's nearly as good as my books advertised for alcohol markers. When I use alcohol markers I still use a blank page between to protect the next image. Almost all paper will bleed through if you saturate it enough.Overall great quality and fun nostalgic points for a decent price.

Super great - I have no reason to not like this product
Wow first review ever on Amazon (I should feel so proud). Sorry I didn't add a picture, but the product is exactly what is advertised here (at least for me). Another reviewer gave legit photos of some of the book's pages.Packaging:The book shipped and was delivered on time.Came in perfect condition, with those puffy air-filled cushions surrounding it.There weren't any marks, bends, tears, or problems whatsoever.Quality of the book:Now, I won't actually be using this since it is a gift for someone else.BUT I can say that I really love the design and structure of the book. It just tugs at those nostalgic heartstrings. The in-book quotes that other reviewers are raving about aren't that amazing. It's just a few words that a character said once upon a time in a random episode that I couldn't point out to you. "Oh yeah, that's something Tommy said once.... *flips page apathetically*"The pages also seem in good quality. Nothing has fallen out after flipping through it. I see what other reviewers are saying about having to actually bend the cover or spine of the book in order to have a totally flat surface when "coloring." As for coloring, I cannot imagine any adults actually using markers on a book like this. Be classy and use colored pencils, y'all. Then, you won't have to worry about ink bleeding through paper. However, you'll still need to face the fact that you're using crayola products at 28 years old.I'd recommend buying this if you: 1) like artsy stuff, 2) like Nickelodeon and cartoons, 3) need an idea for a cheap gift that has the flair of nostalgia.
