Great focus light for DSLRs and go pros underwater
This is my second Evolva light I purchased. I used one with a gopro hero5 during a dive trip in Raja Ampat. The coverage is almost perfect for the gopro in the widest settings. The corners are a bit darker.... and this was on night dives! 2 of these lights will be perfect. For the money I think you will be hard pressed to find a light that provides the quantitiy and quality of light. My only grip is long presses on the switch to go between the various modes. The red mode was perfect to get a very shy decorator crab to come out into perfect position to get a great still shot. check out some of my shotsrickcavanaugh.com/se-asia/raja-ampat-indonesia-2016.html

Would be 5 stars if it weren't for those short bolts.
These are nicely designed and nicely functioning scuba lights, except for a couple of minor things. The light output is decent, they are definitely waterproof, with 3 o-rings to seal them up, and the light pattern is reasonably free of hot spots. 2 of these on a rig lets you create a nice setup.I bought 2, bundled with the battery and charger (in order to get them fast... the light alone would have taken too long to arrive). The bolt that holds the 1" ball mount on was too short to connect on one of the lights, and just barely long enough on the other. I went to the home depot, found a similar bolt that I had to cut down and run through a screw die to make work (the length is non-standard). But on my first dive I discovered that if you don't torque these bolts down hard, the whole thing comes loose, and you'll be in danger of losing your light. They should include the right length bolt, and some sort of lock washer.A few more minor nits. First, the default setting is not the brightest. This is a pain. Second, the bundled battery that you can buy together with the light is the smaller size, and the charger connects to USB... it's nearly worthless. They should put a better bundle together. People who buy these lights to go scuba diving have invested $500 in a GoPro, plus a tray, plus lots of other gear. They want a battery that lasts for 2 dives, at least (a typical 2 tank scuba trip), or roughly 2 hours underwater. Lastly, there are no markings telling you which way the battery goes in.Edit (June 11, 2017) - The seller is sending me replacement bolts and ball. They seem to be very responsive to concerns and suggestions. Added a star back to my review.

At first sight, it was a stong like flashligth with a very nice (and logical) button operating modes. Unfortunately the REAL quality ended up being bad. It only lasted ONE (1) dive at 30m (90 ft); when I came out, there was a little water on the led compartment... I was unable to dry it out. It was working though, so weeks after (with some water still on it) I took it (as a back up) on a 2nd dive to 30 m (90ft)... this was the final test, it flooded completely.I threw it away.DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT

Very nice design and well made dive light.
This is one well designed and well made dive light!!! I was very impressed when I took it apart to change out the white LED's to blue ones. I like to take pictures of undersea creatures, and have been fluo diving a few times. I bought this light because I figured if it did not work, I was only out $40. I'm so glad I bought this light, and I'll buy a few more too. It's a small light it size but puts out good even light with no hot spots which you need for taking pictures, but I already have two Fantasea Radiant 1600 video lights.I took pictures of the process of taking it apart, and taking off the old LED's and putting the new ones in. First thing I noticed upon taking the front bezel off was how thick the glass lens was, and it is glass. The next thing I noticed was that the wires going to the aluminum LED circuit board were Silicone insulated wire, which is perfect for high heat as it will not melt when things heat up. My circuit board was not screwed down to the aluminum housing, though it did have holes (2mm) drilled and tapped. It was a tight fit in the housing so I'm sure it would still transfer heat away from the LED's good enough. I un-soldered the wires to the board, then un-soldered the white LED's using a custom hotplate I made. I cleaned up the old solder on the board, put down new solder paste, and put the board back on the hotplate to reflow the solder. It worked great as I tested it at low power from a power supply. I soldered the wires onto the board, put two 2mm screws to hold down the board, and assembled it the rest of the way.It works very well. Can't wait to try it out on my next dive trips!Bottom line, even if the spring in the on/off switch rusts out, it is very easy to fix. If my spring goes bad I will replace it with an o-ring, or some foam.

Pro scuba videographer with two of these now. I am severely satisfied!
Five stars indefinitely!!! This is the second one I have bought. It has gotten me into scuba photography and I especially love it for underwater videography. And it has saved me so over 50 hours in after effects and video color editing and rendering because of the red. Pro note: do not use this with a red color correction lens filter. Even at sixty, or whatever depth I imagine, it was too much red (which is amazing if you think about it). I can't imagine the more expensive lights being any better for any reason. I took this on our cruise to the Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Jamaica and it held up really well on my dive rig 60' down. It's. Got a heavy and very sturdy feel to it. I saved some money buying it the second time for $35 and then I bought the batteries separate. I bought four rechargeable lithium ion batteries and a two at a time battery wall charger from Amazon for only $10. So more for less! A definite steal and worth every penny. When I'm not using it for dive photography and video, I've found this light to be really useful as a makeshift night video light. So if I want to get video of my family or friends and it's too dark, I have a rig with this light to capture the moment. the light dispensers so evenly it's useful for a lot of other photography needs. I also think it's perfect for camping if and when it rains. I'm just a regular guy they didn't pay to say this, buy it and you won't be disappointed. I have two for a reason...
