Q: Does anyone know why this is so much pricier than other acupressure mats? Is it better in some way?

Bed of Nails is the original Swedish Acupressure Mat that was brought to the USA from Sweden back in 2009. Back then, the mat had 6640 nails, but has since 2011 improved with 8820 nails. With more nails you get more treatment but feel less pain, as you distribute your weight over more nails. The cheaper acupressure mats you see on Amazon are cheaper copycats of the first Bed of Nails mat that had fewer nails. Those cheaper mats will be more painful while giving less treatment.

Q: Side picture shows model with mat and pillow. is the pillow included or sold seperately?

I got the mat with the pillow, but it was around 2 years ago. I hope that offer is still on today. In any case, both the mat and the pillow do wonders to your body and they really help relieve pains.

Q: How do you clean the spikes?

i never have...i lie on my bed of nails with a t-shirt and shorts, and i keep both the mat and the neck roll in their respective boxes, so everything stays very clean. i would imagine maybe a warm water/vinegar solution on a wash rag? or dip a scrub brush in a soapy solution and run across? please update if you have any luck! i love my bed of nails!
