Women with Autism: Accepting and Embracing Autism Spectrum Disorder as You Move Towards an Authentic Life

Refreshing & Practical
I hadn't realised there were exercises, which as I sat lazily in the garden sun with my feet up and a glass of wine threw me to begin with. I certainly wouldn't be doing them at that moment! I thought how interesting though. As well as a personal journey this book gave examples from the many other women the therapist had seen, which reading about so many differing experiences was so relieving and insightful. There was always something for me to relate to. And the exercises I am sure will be useful as I navigate my way in to a world of understanding myself in a more insightful and gentle way than ever before. If you have your diagnosis or are waiting for it, this book will help. I have read so many adult female autism books since the waiting list for assessment is so long. This is the best so far in being practical, having great research and connecting on a personal level all at the same time. Claire Jack's could have done with me as her proofreader though - but that's one of my superpowers haha! Well done. Highly recommended on your path to autistic authenticity.

Life Affirming
This is the best book I've come across for women, and particularly women with level 1/ high functioning autism. It goes way further than a "guide" and is particularly suited for women who have reached adulthood, had complex lives and who want to learn to accept themselves and move forwards. It's the most life affirming book I've come across - great read even if you don't have autism!

Insightful
Very well written and really insightful, this book is a much needed look into the situations and issues that autistic women face and how to approach them.

Wow!
What an amazing book. As an undiagnosed female with so many questions, this book has put my whole life into perspective. A must-read for all women who are feeling lost and maybe on the spectrum.

Excellent book
Loved this book and learned so much. The author really explains autism clearly as well as giving her personal journey through diagnosis. Loved her honesty. Great read. Would definitely recommend

Excellent. A guidebook and companion.
This book answered so many questions. Thoroughly recommend. That tests are geared towards male autism never occurred to me and why so many women are told they don’t come under the heading of autism, was very interesting.

Stunning insights into the real world of women with ASD
This beautifully written book made me laugh and cry and left me with a deep sense of self-awareness, validation and self-compassion, that years of therapy and even training as a psychotherapist, couldn't achieve.I was stunned to get behind the typical male stereotype of ASD to see how it manifests and impacts women in ways that are very often overlooked or dismissed. As such, I see this book as essential reading for anyone who diagnoses or works with children or adults with ASD, for all women who have ever hidden their essence, for fear of being simultaneously 'too much and not enough' and for anyone who wants to understand and support their mothers, daughters, sisters and friends with diagnosed or undiagnosed ASD.At 55 years old this book has taken me on a roller-coaster of emotions, resulting in a sense of excitement for the future and a desire to reclaim and redefine my life, in a way that embraces my unique being and values my contribution to the world. Thank you Claire Jack for your exceptional work in this field.

Yessss!
I started reading it on Kindle after a reference from Psychology Today...I can't stop! Just ordered the paperback. This is the BEST book I have ever read on women with ASD.

poorly edited (e.g., Asperger's is spelled as "Aspberger's"!)
I would like to say that this is a good and helpful book, since books on ASD in women are rare, but I just can't. The writing style and content is simplistic, especially for someone with a PhD. Note: The author's PhD is in anthropology, not in psychology, and therefore, her expertise in the topic of ASD is questionable, or at least limited/biased by her own experience, which is important, of course, but is not how the book is framed. Finally, the book needs a competent editor: The consistent misspelling of "Asperger's" (as "Aspberger's") is just unacceptable. In short, I was very hopeful when I ordered the book, and very disappointed after reading it.
