Hours of fun
My little guy is 5 and always bouncing from one thing to the next. This dig kit kept him seated and focused on one thing for a while!! Loved the look on his face when he found another treasure. Definitely an outside toy as it creates a lot of dust.

No treasure in the gold block
Got the treasure from 4 of the blocks… but the gold block had NOTHING inside. After straining and hammering every little piece of clay… there was literally nothing to show for our troubles except dust.

Worked great for our treasure hunt.
I create treasure hunts for my grandson’s. This is the first time purchasing this. But it waited great!

Fun for kids
My boys loved doing a scavenger hunt to find, and enjoyed excavating the treasures. Size is great for kiddos, not too much to handle/get bored. However, we felt a bit underwhelmed by the treasure. Our fool's gold was so small, we were sure it was the treasure. Box was a bit misleading on that one.

Engaging but a hell of a mess.
My son (4) was eager to break open the clay "coins" and enjoyed the process, as well as discovering the items inside. However, the tiny wooden hammer and chisel was woefully inadequate and barely dented the clay. I had to use the chisel and my hand to twist and drive the tool into the clay, and abandoned the hammer entirely. My son enjoyed brushing the dust off of the main bit, and using the hammer to whack the chunks I broke off.The coins also produce *a lot* of dust. Not just on the table, but into the air. It got to a point where I could taste the clay in my mouth because of the amount that was getting into the air.I recommend doing this outside or in a garage or someplace with good dust mitigation.*Do not* wash the clay dust down any drains. Clay can rapidly build up in pipes and is exceptionally difficult to remove. An extra activity for this would be creating a scavenger hunt and hiding the "coins" around. I'd also recommend small, heavier tools to actually break apart the clay, so a kid could actually do more of it themself.Overall, it's an okay experiential toy, but I have some concerns about airborne clay particles, as well as wondering what exactly is used to make the clay "coins" that kids break apart. The included tools are also pretty ineffective.
