A bit expensive - but worth the money
I purchased this reading aid for my 89 year old father who lives on his own and is experiencing age related macular degeneration. Reading mixed reports on its deployment by other reviewers I was somewhat sceptical as to its usefulness but, in the absence of anything else like it, we decided to give it a go.On receipt my Dad plugged the hand scan tool into his 32 inch smart TV and immediately found it straight-forward to set-up and use. This is an important thing at his age. To his delight, he then had an ability to read small print items without having to revert to the laborious process of using his magnifying glass.Checking back with him a month or two later he tells me he uses this device nearly every day and that it is particularly helpful when needing to read food ingredients from the side of a manufacturer's packet.A rechargable wireless bluetooth version would be even better as this would avoid the need for trailing wiresWhilst I think the retail price is a little high for the item you receive this is a great invention and a product worth giving a try if you or someone you know has failing sight.

Game changer
Bought this for my elderly dad, he lost sight in one eye and has cataract in the other, he can now read books, magazines or newspapers again, check cooking instructions on packets, he loves this device. We needed to buy an adapter as we didn't have a component input, but that was not difficult, it now goes into HDMI input. It was plug and play, no difficulty at all setting up.

9 out of 10
I bought it for my father who suffers from Macular Degeneration to replace another make that packed up on him. It is much clearer than the last one he had and it also scans in colour which the last one didn't do. The only thing my father is not too keen on is the fact that it switches itself off every 10 minutes. This isn't a fault as it refers to it in the instructions however I would love to know the reason why it does this. I wonder if there is a way to override this.

Work very well
Bought for a person who has macular degeneration, works very well. Only comes with an RCA phono output so had to buy an HDMI convertor separately (difficult to find new TV's with RCA phono). Very clear picture

Very clever. Easy to use . Able to read again.
Very clever idea. My 91yr old mother is able to read books and magazines again. As the print appears large and clear on her TV screen. She isn't Tech savvy, but this is easy to use.
