I bought it as a gift, and it has very nice, radiant colours. Yes, it is hard to open, not even the first time, but even when I tried to open it the second time, it was kind of "stuck", like glued together, but it didn't damage the paper or the cover in any way. The cover is soft to touch and the frame "thingy" comes separately, so you don't have to use it, if you don't want to. I couldn't really imagine how tall and wide the book is, so I took a pic with my hand on top of it, hoping it will help someone in the future :) Overall, I'm so far satisfied with it.

I thought that I would add a few things not in other reviews because I was VERY pleasantly surprised when giving this as a gift.1. It can open 360 degrees if you want, into a circle, with the magnets holding together in the back. Makes for an alternate look. Can also do 270 when attached to something like the outer corner of a metal filing cabinet. Which brings me to:2. The strong magnets will hold to anything magnet and do so quite well. Works on fridge, filing cabinet, and my metal write-on board.3. On the downside, the extra panel on the front for pictures is crappy, as in really crappy. It is a piece of cardboard that is stuck on to the cover. Luckily, it isn't stuck on well and was easy to remove.Oh, and yes, you have to pull hard (yet gently!) to open it because of the strong magnets.

I have gifted out several book/lights for christmas and tried all different ones, this one was my favorite.It's pretty small, but in a convenient way. I like the brown, the blue is kinda an odd shade of blue to me. The round shape is very nice, I prefer it to the square edged.The selection of colors is great and the remote is awesome. Compared to the ones with no remote and no color, this one is far better in my opinion. What I love most is the color of the light when it opens up, the white has a bit of color to it that I really like.If I buy more of these book/lights it will be this one.I wish I had video taped my niece opening this gift, it was an inspired moment. ...My grandpa had a jolt/scare response rather than awe as it does for most.

This product is not THE brand name product so don't expect it to be. You wouldn't be paying for this one if you could afford the real thing. That said, when we received the book, it didn't want to open. It was as if the book's "spine" was stuck. After a bit of coaxing, it resolved itself and worked flawlessly. The product is good, it lights well, works as promised, and the charge time is realistic. As to how long it will last, who knows? Only time will tell. If it doesn't last, for the price, you can afford to purchase another. Buy with confidence.
