hard to put down!
Wow. I just received this and was going to take a quick glance. Hard to take a "quick" glance; I want to read everything! My quick glance has lasted over an hour. Fantastic pictures are included throughout and many, many topics are covered for the kinds of things to build, from characters to animals, random patterns to mosaics (mindblowing), and small furniture to large buildings. Many interviews are also included, with Lego builders that are top in their field. My jaw just keeps dropping. So much great information. Can't wait to read cover to cover and try EVERYTHING! (fyi, quality of the book itself - nice, thick pages; easy to read font.)

It's broken down into chapters that focus on different types of builds like Microscale, Heavy Equipment
I was really impressed by this book on a few levels. It's broken down into chapters that focus on different types of builds like Microscale, Heavy Equipment, Spaceships, Mech's, etc.... Each chapter offers tips and ideas relevant to the subject at hand, and a bunch of great pictures sure to inspire. Each chapter finishes with an interview of a builder who is known for their work in that particular genre. This makes the book very well rounded, functioning as an overview of various types of models, various tips and tricks, a visual idea book to get the creative juices going, and a who's who of some of the best builders on the scene today. Of the many LEGO themed books I have purchased over the years, this one stands out as being one of the best i.m.h.o..

Great Book for Lego Lovers Young and Old!
This book was written with passion and love for all things Legos, which is what makes it such a great book for all age levels. The author, Jordan Schwartz, brings so much experience and talent to his audience, which is inspiring to every person who loves to build with Legos. This is a must have book for every Lego enthusiast's Lego library! Enjoy!

For the serious lego hobbyist
For the dedicated Lego builder (I know a few, but I'm not one), this is a great resource. But I am not dedicated enough to need this level.Hence the 4 stars -- This book goes way further in-depth than I am ready for.

Great book for serious lego designers even kids
Awesome book for serious lego designers. Bought this for my nine year old who loves building his own designs. He's the type of kid who wants new sets for their parts more than for the actual set. Written for adults, some of the language is too difficult, but the great pictures and different categories of design (ie buildings, cars, furniture etc.) have kept my son entranced.

Lego techniques textbook
This is a textbook of Lego techniques that is truly informative. It covers most types of builds and gives interesting observations and suggestions from some of the Lego world's most skilled builders. Not a real fast read but well worth the time spent.

Not very useful
The overall title implies that this book is full of ideas and tips. The truth is, there are suggestions for what you can use for building but, no actual tips in regards to techniques or anything else build related. It's just suggestions on parts, many of which are no longer produced.

A must have purchase for anyone looking to start building their own models!
A thoroughly interesting read with information about every aspect of designing your own Lego models. This has been well thought out with many brilliant photos and examples. I particularly enjoyed some of the short interviews with other well known builders and how they go about making some of their signature models. If you're a fan of Lego looking to branch away from purely building official sets from instructions, then this book should be one of the first resources to aid you on your quest.Beautifully put together and well written , this is 100% worth the buy :-)
