Just what I neeeded to get my "antique" 1972 Wards 16 hp tractor engine running again
It's a BEAR to get the engine out so I could get AT the magneto, but once it's out so I could remove the air shroud, this one bolted in perfectly and works fine. I figured I might as well re-build the engine while I went to all the trouble of pulling the engine out. It'll probably out-live me now.Charlie T

Works great, but fit wasn't perfect.
The coil works great, the engine runs as good as new. It has a nice strong spark. However, there was a problem that needed to be fixed before I could install the coil.One of the rivets that hold the laminated core together was mashed down a bit. Unfortunately, it was the one rivet that I needed to support an air deflector. All the other rivets were installed correctly. I was able to slide a thin saw blade under the head and remove enough material to get the deflector to fit, but not slide as easily as it should. Because the air deflector was a tight fit it didn't slide freely and made it a little more difficult to set the air gap. This was in no way a show stopper, and is probably a "one off" issue, but explains 4 stars instead of 5. Because I have a well equipped shop this was not an issue for me, but others expecting a quick coil swap might be annoyed.The plug wire was excellent. I have had coil wires in the past I thought might be a little sketchy, this wasn't one of them. As the engine runs beautifully, I am very satisfied with the coil and would buy from this seller again as I think the rivet issue was an accident. I thought the price was fair. Jim

Works great.
I have an old Briggs & Station and the local shops told me the coil was no longer available. Found this replacement coil, ordered it, installed it, and it worked great.

Did not work on my mower
Not sure if its only for points and condenser models, but this gave no spark. Nice they took it back
