Q: Is the inside diameter 2 1/2" ? If not, what is it?

I bought the 1/2" one and it was 1/2" on the inside I had a 1/2" pvc pipe and the connector fit perfect on the pipe.

Q: If I order the 2.5" version, do need a connector piece to join my other 2.5" pipes to this? Or will my existing 2.5" pipes fit into this item?

As long as the pipes are the same "schedule" and the same material, they will fit. CPVC will not glue normally to PVC. Schedule 40 PVC will not fit Schedule 80 PVC.

Q: can this be used on electrical conduit?

Not sure if it's the right size, but usually on conduit you need a long el or a conduit el that has a removable cover so wires can be pulled.
