George Washington Was A Badass: Crazy But True Stories About The United States’ First President

‘Real men despise battle, but will never run from it’
Author Bill O’Neill has authored many books on Trivia and stands as somewhat of an expert in this field! His topics include movies, football, baseball, wars, rock music, simply random trivia facts and US States. Now with a nod to providing interesting reading material while passing the time at home, Bill offers a plethora of stories that provide not only entertaining but also so educational topics – tidbits of unbelievable but true crazy nonsense that result in a wakeup jolt – followed by a guffaw! With a wry sense of humor, Bill outlines his content in the Introduction – ‘It probably wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that just about every adult in the world knows something about George Washington and that every American knows – or should know – a few more facts about the united States’ first president. You probably know that, in addition to being the first American president, Washington was also his nation’s first general and that he played a key role in the events leading up to the American Revolution. In GEORGE WASHINGTON WAS A BADASS we peel back the academic and popular veneer that normally covers books, articles, and documentaries about Washington and present you with a fresh new take on the Father of the Country…it goes so far beyond a normal, boring on by lifting off the powdered wig of America’s first president to see what kind of man rode on that fabled white horse.’Bill accompanies his crazy wild true stories with near academic standards, a factor that makes the punch line of each chapter all the more pungent! Interspersed in these various subjects are Washington’s wealthy background, his life on a plantation at Mount Vernon, his facial scars from smallpox, that he owned slaves, worked the plantation along side the slaves, his starting of the French and Indian War, his marriage to Martha, his height – 6’ to 6’4”, being the nation’s first general, and more and more fascinating facts and many quotations from Washington rarely seen before. As Bill states, ‘George Washington may have been mythical in some ways, yet he was still human. For all these reasons, George Washington is not only the greatest badass president but also probably the greatest badass American in history.’Not only is the book entertaining – it is also very instructive. For those familiar with Bill O’Neill’s talent for tickling the brain, this book is a must read – one of his best. For those who are simply looking for solid entertaining reading to while away the hours, welcome to the field expert! Highly recommended – especially during these times… Grady Harp, April 21

This Is An Excellent Interesting Book About George Washington.
This is an interesting excellent book about the life of George Washington. I read this book for my personal pleasure and for my personal knowledge. I liked this book because I learned some new facts that I did not know before. Some of the interesting information that the author of the book mentions in this book include the following information: George Washington was extremely generous with his friends and associates, often giving them loans with no interest. Also, despite the fact that he owned some slaves, George Washington generally refused to break up families, often costing him money to keep them together. George Washington went out of his way to keep slave families together. George Washington had light-blue eyes and auburn hair. But most people did not know that because he usually wore a powdered wig like most of men of status did during the 1700's.

Would have been great. Too much cussing
My son would have really enjoyed the book better if there weren't a cuss word every sentence or two. He really likes it when history is written in a fun way or story form versus dry boring facts. This book could have been better, minus the cussing, which was a major distraction for him. I tried reading it as well, but it was just too much.

history book that actually is NOT boring
I loved reading all about US presidents but most of the books were too dry, too wordy, and overstuffed with facts that just could not get me interested. When I downloaded this one, I read it in 2 days and loved it. You learnt about our first president but it was presented in such a fun, easy to digest style that it is not boring at all. This is a great history book every American should read. Solid 5 stars.

Another Super, Fun, History Book from my Favorite Author
This author hooks you into history and brings you back into the mode of “I remember that from my history class.” I go back in time and wonder where I was at and who I was with. He never fails to make history fun and interesting.I keep wondering where he gets his information for his books. They are always fun and interesting to read and share!I simply can’t wait until his next book to come out.

Another great trivia collection from Bill O'Neill
I haven't read a Bill O'Neill book yet that I didn't like. This continues the unbroken string. They are great collections of short trivia. I rarely have the time to sit for hours reading. I appreciate being able to pick up a book that I can enjoy for 20 minutes or half an hour, pick back up again later and don't have to try to remember who the characters are. And of course I always learn things I didn't know.

Even if you hate learning history
As a student, I found history lessons to be boring and stale. As a teacher, I tried to make my history lessons a little more interesting but, since I didn't enjoy it, my students didn't, either. I wish I had this book back then. It, and the author's other trivia books, shine a very human and interesting light on the subject. I particularly like the inclusion of topic-specific quotes that give a deeper understanding to how Washington viewed his world as it changed.

American History of Washington.
I liked the chronological order of the book and the interesting included letters I never read before. Interesting enough there was mention of his association with the Masonic Order.

I don't do book reviews
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I giveIf the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.
