My old nail grinder was a Pedi-Paw that used a rough sandpaper grinding surface and a very weak motor that ate 'C' cell batteries. I have a medium size dog (43 lbs., 6 years old) who I have ground her nail weekly for her entire life, so she is used to having her nails ground. This Casfuy Dog Nail Grinder has just been such a technological leap for both of us. The unit will run for roughly 3 hours per charge, but it only takes me 5-8 minutes to grind her nails, so I will only have to charge twice a year. The grinding wheel is permanent diamond cutting surface which works very quickly and the LED lights really help you to see what you are doing. The motor is not that loud and the diamond grinding surface is so efficient, I only grind on the lower motor speed. The removable cover (turns counter-clockwise) has two guides that allow grinding either holding the unit with the grinding wheel down at a 45 degree angle to your dogs nail OR the grinding wheel facing upwards, again grinding the nail at a 45 degree angle. The 'dust' from the nail being ground does go airborne, so you may want to grind outdoors and/or wear a mask if sensitive. The unit does need cleaning after use to remove the nail 'dust' from the grinding wheel. I remove the top (counter-clockwise) and rinse it under water, then use a damp paper towel to pat the grinding wheel clean (unit is NOT running). The manufacturers also suggest using an eraser to clean the grinding wheel, but I did not have one laying around. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GRINDING: If you have not ground your dogs nails before, remember to go slowly and touch the grinding wheel to the dogs nail for 1-2 seconds then remove it for 1-2 seconds, repeat. This prevents heat from building up and hurting your dog. Keep the grinder at a 45 degree to the nail (see the illustration in the unit manual) and look often at the part of the nail you are grinding to make sure you have not ground too deeply. This grinder removes a lot of nail quickly! If their nails are long, you should take several days (up to weeks doing it daily if they are really long) to get them ground down to the appropriate length OR have a groomer/veterinarian cut the nails (which may also take a few times since extremely long nails have the blood vessel going roughly 3/4ths of the length of the nail), then keep the nails the correct length. I walk my dog twice a day, mainly on concrete (around various suburban parks) and her nails still need weekly grinding. IMHO, it is not viable that walking keeps their nails worn down unless they are a working dog who walks all day. Set a schedule and grind their nails once a week and both of your lives will be better. Also, brush their teeth everyday with doggy toothpaste (Vibrac poultry or beef) for their health and your savings. Toothbrushing only takes 15-30 seconds as the goal is to get the toothpaste into their mouth and let the enzymes destroy the plaque. You do not have to brush for 2 minutes like for humans. My dog is 6 years old and has great teeth, no $1,000 dental cleanings and nice breath. Bad breathe generally means dental problems. Brush daily!!

Wow. Does a beautiful fast job (love the choice of speeds), and the light is fantastic! I can finally see the quick in my small dog's black nails. Even the pitbull accepted it within a few minutes. It's pretty quiet, easy to clean, and NO BATTERIES to worry about is huge plus.

Nice Dremel, works well, holds a good charge, love the light, the only negative for me is that I wish it was a little bit shorter, that way I could grasp it better in my smallish hands.

Mannnnnnnn where do I start and how do I keep my review short? We bought this because we were tired of taking our two dogs to the groomers just for nail services; they’re short haired and professional groomer services are unnecessary. Since purchasing this tool, we’re able to trim/grind their nails with ease. The tool is quiet and does not seem to bother them. There are two sides to use which is nice because I have a big and a small dog; I use different sides to accommodate their nail size. LOVE the fact there is a nail guard and a LIGHT so we can see the nail quick. My personal complaint is the dust which is to be expected so I will not deduct stars for this. Overall, I think the tools is super easy to use, fast, and efficient. I would recommend!

These nail grinders for animals do a great job. They're quiet and efficient. The built in light makes it easy to use and to see the dog's quick. The battery lasts MANY uses. The single grinder wheel has a guard that has two openings to place the nail for optimal angle. My dog doesn't love when we use them, but she also doesn't run, just sort of accepts that we are trimming her nails. Really solid for the price point.

I got this for my old dog and he never liked it and he lets clip his nails anyway so I just packed it away. Now I have a new puppy and he freaks out about the clippers and I remembered about this grinder. He was so relaxed once he got used to it touching his nails, it was like night and day between this and the clippers. It did a good job of quickly taking off a lot of the excess nails (they had gotten pretty long) and the curves part made smoothing the sharp edges quick and easy. The grinder is pretty quiet and the battery lasts long enough to do all nails. The only problem I have had is the battery doesn't seem to ever fully charge. The red light stays blinking even after I left it overnight. Still it is holding enough of a charge to work for now. I really recommend this, especially if you start them young, his nails look better than any other dog I've ever had.

I’m sure it would have worked, but our Boston Terrier was very jumpy with the product and it was not worth her fear. I read months later that with dogs hearing, certain noises may hurt their ears. Or was it the weird vibration on her older and somewhat brittle nails? I will never know. Quality seemed fine. Just did not work with our dog.

Great nail grinder! Good speed and very low noise. I really feel I did and upgrade on what I used before. Very easy to use and the light appliace its great because in white nails you can see the nail nerve and avoid hurting your dog.

Has a loud, high-pitched sound when used. If you have audio sensitivity, make sure to use ear plugs when using this. Aside from that, works well.

J ai recueilli une chatte de la rue qui a des griffes incroyablement épaisses et qui se recourbent dans les coussinets. Une grosse galère à couper sachant qu elle ne se laisse pas faire même en étant sédatée. J avais espoir dans cette machine pour me sauver la vie lors de ces moments plus que très délicats! et ma foi je suis ravie ! ça m'a beaucoup aidé, même si j ai eu besoin de quelqu un en supplément car je devais aussi tenir le chat. la machine est douce mais très efficace et rapide. peu bruyante, avec une lumière qui aide bien! Sachant que les griffes du chat sont en plus noires, le fait de polir les griffes petit à petit évite le massacre du ciseau coupe griffe. La "meule" est protégée par un cache ce qui permet de ne pas blaisser l animal ! ça c est génial. Elle est rechargeable par cable. Bref je valide !

Wir haben einen großen Vierbeiner mit sehr starken Krallen. War anfänglich etwas skeptisch, ob der Krallenschleifer tatsächlich funktioniert. Tut er aber nun schon seit geraumer Zeit problemlos, mit sehr gutem Ergebnis und ohne Abnutzungserscheinungen. Das Krallenschneiden beim Tierarzt, was der Hund ohnehin nicht mag, gehört der Vergangenheit an. Die Krallen werden zudem anders als beim Schneiden durch das Schleifen schön glatt / abgerundet.
