Arrived on time and pond cleared after a few days .

I bought these when they were on offer at 2 for £12, I don't think I would want to commit £20 with no chance of returning the second one if it fails soon after fitting it in 6+ months though! Well packaged for transit, they arrived in perfect condition. Even got a polythene glove in the box so no need to worry about making sure you don't get finger oils on the glass which can reduce the lifespan as the oils burn into the glass. Don't handle the bulbs with bare fingers - same as domestic halogen bulbs really although we don't have to do that any more as ours are all LED now. Perfect fit for my Hoselock 9000 pond filter/fountain. Always a worry buying UV bulbs for it, my previous Hoselock unit took 11W bulbs and I bought a bulb from local supplier which was just a tiny fraction too long and just as the tightening nut reached its final spot there was a loud crack and the quartz tube was destroyed - they're very expensive to replace and the pump was fairly old and I wanted a bigger one anyway so I ended up buying the 9000 rather sooner than expected! These bulbs though definitely fit the 9000 with just enough room to see a bit of movement in the bulb if you jiggle the pump after fully tightening the quartz tube down, very reassuring, means the bulb's not being pinched against the tube :o) I tested the first bulb in place for a week, and the tell-tale glow from the translucent base of the fountain was good and bright (can only see it at night when everything else is dark, and can't test it outside the working unit which has to be full of moving water of course), then took that bulb out and put the other one in and did the same test, again working perfectly for a week, so I was able to do this review after those tests. If either bulb fails prematurely then I'll edit this review, otherwise all seems well and I'm happy with this purchase.

Only one of the 2 UVC bulbs sent works

I've tried a few of the, what are essentiall,y generic made/sourced bulbs. They do a fair to decent job for the price, but in my opinion dont match up to the OE brands. I have an Oase pond filter, which came with a Philps made bulb (I assumed manufactured by them or to their standards), which seemed far more potent in the same wattage and had a visible immediate effect. They however cost around 3x the price. This and similar generic bulbs, having tried a few, in my thinking work around the 60-70% mark in comparison, so if found much cheaper are not that bad. In regards to lonegivity, thats hard to assertain.
