Minecraft Stop Motion Movie Creator Playset

My 8 year old son was not excited about this when I pointed it out in a toy ad. I ended up buying it anyway when Amazon offered it for a great price after Thanksgiving and I figured it was worth the price for the pieces, even if he ever made a movie. My son loves to set up complex scenes with his toys, so this is right up his alley. And his 7 year old sister is also a big Minecraft fan. I'm really glad that I took the chance on it and I'm really glad that I knew the app was free, because I'm not sure he would have even tried to make a movie if I hadn't shown him the app. He is thrilled with it and has spent hours working on his videos. The first video was about 2 seconds long but he's figured out how to move the figures slowly and make longer movies. He just got this Christmas morning so he's had 3 days to play with it.The app is free and works ok on his kindle with a front facing camera, works great with my phone's rear facing camera. When the movie is complete, the app gives you the option to save the video to your device. The kids are saving the movies as they make them then later I go in and upload them to youtube as "unlisted" videos. That way I can delete the files off the phone and not use up any storage space. The app itself was very small.

My daughter LOVE this. This particular set comes with Alex, the girl mincrafter. My daughter loves making props and stories with the he stop motion. It does take my phone to run the app and have a clear picture, but it's memories her and I have had great fun making!

This has become my default birthday present for my 10 year old's friends. It combines their love of Minecraft and furthers the creativity by allowing them to create their own stop motion movies with cute little plastic figurines. (Four are included in the set, but my son and his friends also collect those little overpriced minifigures, so they have a lot more creatures to add to their movies.). You have the option of 4 backgrounds (two double sided sheets). It. comes with some non-reusable stickers to place on the ground, which my son didn't love. The main issue we have with this set is that the app isn't the best-- it has glitches and my son has become frustrated about losing his progress. There are other stop motion apps that can replace the Minecraft one, though without the sound effects and intros.

Christmas Gift for my 10 yo daughter. She is really into coding and robotics and it was hard for me to find things I thought she would like.This was the first and only gift she took out of the box on Christmas day. It is her favorite!! It does take up a lot of time so the kid needs to have some patience as with any stop motion. She was in her room for about an hour and a half before she came out to show me her first 8 second video!!! Her 6 yo brother also likes playing with the pieces but he doesn't make videos.She likes the different backgrounds and everything it came with. Of course, she wished it had more characters and elements (not sure if that is what they call the cubes?) but everything pictured here was shown and that is plenty to get started.

Purchased for my 11 year-old daughter, who is a Minecraft fanatic. She initially loved it, and quickly learned how to record her own short videos using the few characters providing. However, she has since hit some serious limitations in the app that is used for the recording, for example hitting restrictions where it will not allow more than a few seconds of audio to be recorded per clip.A neat way to record short, simple stop-motion and to learn about the process, but a high price point for a few plastic pieces and an app which cannot to anything more advanced. If you can find it for a bargain, it's worth a shot.

My 15 yo son spent all day with this yesterday and created several fun 'movies' to show the family. Creative product, easy to use, and a fun way to stimulate creativity that can compete against the lure of TV and gaming.

This was a Christmas present for my 11 year old daughter. She's always been interesting in making animations and videos, and she loves minecraft, so I was thrilled when I found this -- the perfect gift.This is the one present that she didn't get bored with after a few hours. She spends a good chunk of the day making videos in her room. She even uses the app to make stop motion videos without the minecraft set. Definitely pleased with this purchase.

Purchased this for our Grandchildren (11 year old girl & 8 year old identical triplet boys).One of the boys had taken a shine to this playset - not for making movies, but just to play with. He set up the background and plays with it as is; sometimes with help from his brothers. They have no interest in trying to make a movie this way - just too demanding to move a tiny bit, take a picture, move a bit more etc. and then combine everything for the movie.I managed to pick up one with a damaged outer box from the Amazon Warehouse. The kids never noticed the damage and I saved a lot. Very glad I did not pay full price for it, but if you can get it onsale, or like I did slightly used/damaged, and let the kids use it just as a playset.it can be fun.

Our 10 year old son got this for Christmas and LOVES it! He has spent many hours making little movies and being creative. He loves to buy the little boxes with mystery figurines at the store and then use them as props for his movies. Very happy with this purchase.
