Q: Does this work in conjunction with a throttle, or can it be used without? Also, could a throttle work without pedal assist?

Yes, It can be used with just the throttle or just the pedal assist. They are separate inputs to the controller. So you do not need to install both for it to work. I found there was a problem with the controls at the handlebars on my kit, the pedal assist was not working. I spoke with e-bikeling customer service and ended up ordering a new upgrade controller.

Q: What is the diameter of the disk?

It's about 3" but it would not fit my bike because it conflicted with my ring gear. No, you cannot mount it backwards in the other side. It will only sense going one way. After two years i don't mind that that it does not fit. My brother has it on his bike and prefers that mine feels more like a motor cycle with just the twist grip throttle.

Q: Will this work on a RAD ebike, folding mini?

Yes, this will work with every bike.

Q: Does the "working surface" of the disk go inside (toward the sprockets on the other side of the crank) or outside, or does it matter?

Orientation matters. The magnets on the disk need to face outward to make contact with the sensor.
