Best Friends (1982)

Ever since I was a kid, my family and I just randomly utter the phrase “I dee and doe.”

The late Burt Reynolds was a wonderful actor... and such a handsome guy. Not many actor's from his generation could adsorb a back-lash about his April-December romance with Dinah Shore back in the 1970's. Nor the cosmetic procedures and the financial issues later in life ..then there is Goldie Hawn who is openly living with actor Kirk Russell and they have never married ..since being coupled since the 1980's. This movie was shot on location as well as a studio ...to be honest ..It dragged a bit. Then it would pick up.... Kinda makes me agree with the fact that marriage is over rated .. If a couple can live,breath and function without a wedding band for a 5-10 years? Why even go through the headache ..unless they have children from a prior situation,large financial reserve/asset's or illness where a spouse needs to give medical permission to physicians regarding surgery,etc,etc,. Jessica Tandy plays a bawdy mother with an open mind.. the dad played by actor Barnard Hughes who we know from "Doc Hollywood,The Lost Boys.Midnight Cowboy"..with the roving eyes . Burt's parent's were played by Audra Lindley we know from "Three's Company" ... as Mrs.Roper... The only issue with the movie was when family member's like to interfere in a "MARRIED COUPLE'S" life... that can make matter's even worse.. !

I liked this movie. It was a very well acted (obviously, it has Goldie Hawn) and well written movie. However it is billed as a comedy. IT IS NOT. This is a repeated problem I'm finding about movies from this time period. If there is like one joke and nobody dies it's called a comedy. Yes that is the more classical meaning of comedy but when it comes to movies it feel incorrect. This movie is about two people in a long-term live together relationship that get married and then visit each others parents, stop communicating, get mad at each other for stupid reasons and then SPOILER break up before being forced to work together again.Why they completely changed who they were after they got married made no sense to me or my boyfriend. Though both characters had legitimate gripes about how things were going at the various in-laws houses everything could have been solved if they just freaking talked to each other!

If your a fan of Kate Hudson’s mom then you will love this .

Burt Reynolds was great and so was Goldie Hawn. What chemistry!! Storyline was funny and sad. Wished for a different ending. A MUST see.

Awesome movie - haven't seen it in years!

This movie is great! I love the rapport between Burt Reynolds and Goldie Hawn. They are magical together in this hysterical and beautiful love story. You laugh and cry and really relate to this funny story of how families meet their in-laws and the meaning behind enduring love.

Wonderful comedy - great actors.
