Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide Volume 51 (OVERSTREET COMIC BOOK PG SC)

Concur with Black Swan
This book is a very nice to have to orient oneself within the cosmos of grading, dealing, culture, and especially even knowing what has been published before, during, and after you were born. But nowhere from a flea market to ebay will you find, for example, a Thor 165 8.0 for $465. The pricing is off by a multiplier of 2 or 3x across the board, and the cartoon introduction, if you take time to read it, disclaims that this is literally but a guide based on informed opinion and nostalgia. Also prices are quoted for raw books only; for CGC (i.e. professionally graded and encased in a plastic sarcophagus) prices one must refer to a handful of websites that have commodified market data from tracking CGC internet sales. So after months seeking to fill that void in my box between Thor 164 and 166, and attempting to identify a reasonable price to make the pain go away, in the end i was happy to find a Thor 165 4.5 CGC for $360 (Overstreet raw ~$125, GoCollect CGC $280, ebay--fuggedaboutit). Overall for myself the Overstreet Guide is a sort of comfort blankey i may cling to while attempting to navigate the electron storm of internet comics pricing, and especially when a desired issue is considered a "key" and the price has run away completely by the time i meandered upon it.

A MUST HAVE FOR COMIC BOOK READERS AND COLLECTORS
Jammed pack with interesting comic book stories, color photos, comic book fans and writer's editorials, the value of just about every comic book, and a lot more! There are more than 1,000 pages so to squeeze in all of the information fonts are small. Having a magnifying glass comes in handy.

It's helpful, but confusing book
Price guides used to be much easier to read. You have to get past all the advertising pagrs and really study the first section to start to understand the structure of the book. It's a helpful starting point to pricing out your comics, but you still need to have them offically appraised to even know where they are priced according to the book. Overall I'd say if you are selling your comics and already had them appraied there is no real need for it, because the appraisal company should be able to give you a base dollar value for them.

Great resource
This Gide is a Helpful tool when it comes to the price iβm older and newer comics. If your a seller or if youβre buying or selling a Collectible itβs best to do some research.

Good base
This is a good base price to go off of. Even though by the time I looked at some of mine, the prices had really jumped. Still a good starting point

something that Every comic book collector should own
Overstreets guide to comic books and their values is a must own for every collector.although the actual dealers usually charge more than the listed values it still gives you a good idea.I also love the information about the comic's provided in the listings. artists ,writers ;first appearances ect.I use it to zero down on the comics I want to own and order.I highly recommend it to everyone interested in comic book collecting.

Excellent book, but bear in mind prices will be out of date by the time these guides hit the shelves
I'm a long time comic collector, but asides from the odd few in my collection, I've never been particularly bothered about how much they are worth. Now, I've always been aware of Overstreet, and nearly bought volumes in the past, but never got round to it. However, thanks to successive lockdowns, "working from home", and not feeling 100% safe when venturing out into the real world, I've used some of them to organise my collection (mostly using an iOS app called CLZ Comics).I joined the Facebook group and I was intrigued by people posting the value of their books, so I figured "What the hey?" and bought myself an Overstreet Guide.Granted, we all know these guides are out of date when they hit the shelves, but like the reviewer "B" the book provides you with a good starting point. The book itself is very much like a telephone directory (remember them?) and of a similar quality. The pages are very thin and delicate, borderline flimsy in fact, which gave me pause before purchase, as I read how other buyers received damaged copies. I too have received damaged books from Amazon (all paperbacks), so I was worried that this would arrived mangled. Thankfully it arrived in near pristine condition. As mentioned, listed prices are out of date but do give you a general "ballpark" figure from where you can start from. It is also a nice surprise when you're checking our prices and some of your books are worth a premium. However, we all know that things are any ever really worth what someone is willing to pay.

Essential.
This is the bible for American comic books. The prices shown are thereabouts but with the volatile nature of collecting the prices are only a guide.I usually treat the dollar prices as pounds to get some where near the real values.Warning some collectors over value their comics. Some state rarity when there are many available.Don't be caught out. Also condition is everything in pricing so take care. This book is a great help to collectors and I am always using it.

Excellent for American comic values
I loved the detail and it was easy to use. It is a US book and therefore did not have any British comics and all values were in Dollars. Still useful though.
