VAMPIRE HUNTER (Knights of Black Swan Book 8)

An amazing read!
Rammel Hawking is one of my favourite characters in the Order of the Black Swan series. He is a combination of tenderness, strength, and mischief. What can I say? He is one gorgeous elf. I didn't think I could love him more. I was wrong. This book reveals even more facets about this man. While most of the story unfolds from Ram's point of view, we also get chapters that are told in other voices - Lan, Liam, Storm, and Kay. We finally get to meet Lan who was Rammel's first partner and best friend. At the beginning of the first book, MY FAMILIAR STRANGER, the knights are mourning Lan's death. Now we can truly feel what a great loss that was for the team and especially for Ram. From Liam's POV, we get to see Ram as the wild, rebellious child, what he might have become without Liam's help, and how he has grown up over the years. From Kay and Storm, we get to know the loyal, fun-loving, and sometimes exasperating Ram. Of course from Storm we also see the conflict when the two become rivals in love. Best of all we get to see many of the events we loved from the first books through Rammel Hawking's beautiful eyes. It adds so much to learn his background and to watch his courtship of Elora from another angle. How wonderful it is to watch Elora's discovery of chocolate and the many uses of a tooth pick from Ram's perspective. This book could be read on its own, but it becomes so much more if you also read the whole Order of the Black Swan series. They are so well written and exciting, it is a joy to read each and every book. I came to really love and care about the characters and to look forward to every new story in the Order of the Black Swan series. They just keep getting better and better. Thank you, Victoria Danann.

Elftastic!!!
Victoria Danann is a brilliant writer. To say I loved this book is kind of an understatement. I have read My Familiar Stranger 5 times & Listened to it on audio 3 times. Vampire Hunter is Ram’s tale of MFS. So I knew what was coming. Being told by this Mischievous Elf was fantastic. While I was reading this story, I actually Laughed out loud. I snorted, I had tears rolling down my face. At one point I was sobbing. I knew what was coming & it still affected me this way. Those who know me know that I am an Engel Storm fan. Rammel Hawking has always had my attention, But Sir Storm had my affection. After reading this book Ram is very close to Sir Storm now. His deep abiding love for Elora shines thru in this book. If you have not read My Familiar Stranger, I suggest you get that book & read it 1st. I read some passages to my husband. It is great to be able to share a good book. This is mostly told from Ram’s POV. But there are some places that are told from other’s all are male. One quote I would like to share. “ We were passin’ by a tight alleyway, when I heard a muffled yell. The others kept walkin’ ‘cause they had no’ heard a thing. I guess elf ears have a value beyond good looks.” ..I love that ELF!!! Please grab your copy today & start reading. You will not be sorry. Another 5 star read from Victoria Danann. Now go get your book and start reading. From a Forever Fan… Pam James.

Loved Ram's story
I got mesmerized with this story Vampire Hunter. When first read My Familiar Stranger I would have liked to know more about Ram, how Liam died and how was that Ram got Elora when Storm was a better choice. I had no good image of him with his lack of seriousness. This Ram’s POV was fantastic. We had his story since he was a child. Got my answers, loved his character and liked the berserker more with his good advices. Ram’s narrations were full of emotion and the author made me think about how difficult his life had been and I kind of felt in love with him. I was discovering and understanding Ram’s personality, his emotions and motivations. I laughed with his comments and exploits, was sad others times but at last was very happy for him. I was so deep in the story that I can’t stop reading. Have read all the books in the series and each time I’m more satisfied with this stories that make my imagination soar. I can’t wait for the next book.Received an ARC for an honest review

Victoria Danann's "Elf Tale" makes me believe in happily ever after!
He is a vampire hunter, a bad ass, a friend, a lover, and man enough to admit when he's been a numbskull. What's not to love about Ram? Now I love him even more after reading the origin story for the Black Swan Knights through the eyes of Rammel Hawking. Ram is my favorite character second only to Elora for so many reasons, but most of all for how he so thoroughly loves Elora. His adaptation of "fairy tales" to "elf tales" show his wicked sense of humor; "when the elf ties scissors to Rapunzel's hair and sent them up to the tower so she could cut her braid, tie it off and use it to climb down." Thank you Victoria for giving me a reason to stop the business and the busyness of living my hectic day to day life and fall in head first in love again with your characters, to your story, and a dimension so richly told that I catch myself wondering what my friends are up to. I can't wait to read whatever you've got up your sleeve for next time!!!

Sometimes the new version is as good as the old!
My first thought was that this was sort of a cheap/easy way to pump out a new book - it's basically a re-telling of the first volume of the series. So if that's true, why did I practically binge-read it? Because it is and it isn't "just a re-telling." It is that and more. The perspective from Ram makes it much different and the "alternating person" format makes it vastly different as well.So. If you've read through the series until now there will be no surprises. That said, if you've read it all thus far then you have a fresh view of things. The only real negative is if you've read through all of the other volumes, you have knowledge of "things in the future" that might affect your thinking about some events here. But then again, maybe not.Bottom line? Whenever Rammel Hawking 2 comes out, I hope I'm among the first to order. It's another Victoria Danann hit!
