Stainless Steel Coffee Tamper 58mm Barista Espresso Base Coffee Bean Press

I loved this tamper until I realized that the handle screw tightens and then loosens, problem that kept getting worse. The design is otherwise perfect but that’s a serious design flaw. It’s basically useless now. The handle screw threads only match the female threads at the very bottom. That’s a really bad design.

Very solid, should last forever. Looks good and tamps my espresso as it should.

It's inexpensive, looks nice, and seems to be well constructed. It's heavy as well - a good tamper. It fits with a little wiggle into my nominally 58mm portafilter, so there are usually a couple grounds that are left on the walls that I have to give a quick second tamp to, but if I wanted that kind of precision I would have paid more for a precision tamper - this is all I need right now.

The tamper is very comfortable, and its size was perfect for my portafilter (for a Gaggia classic pro). It fits well in the hand and is sturdy, and the base has some good weight to it. The handle unscrews from the base to allow for easy cleaning if the need should arise. The stainless steel is rust free, and has not shown any signs of rusting.

I saw an espresso tamper in a stylized recipe photo for chicken piccata being used as the pounder. This little tamper is very nice, good weight, and easy to hold in your hand so it can be a “multi-purpose” tool. And much more attractive than the typical hammer shaped pounder that I hated.

The handle was a bit loose but good tamper for the price.

I purchased this tamper to use with an older Gaggia espresso machine. It is stout, sturdy, and works great with the portafilter diameter.
